Loratadine Orifarm 10 mg loratadine tablets

What Is Loratadine Orifarm, And What Is It Used For

Loratadine Orifarm, 10 mg tablets, is over-the-counter for adults and children over 6 years (with body weight over 30 kg) for the allergic nose and eye problems.

The allergic problems can be caused by, e.g., pollen, mites, or dust. Symptoms may include

  • Runny nose
  • Nasal congestion
  • Sneezing
  • Red, watery and itchy eyes

Loratadine Orifarm relieves allergic symptoms due to the release of histamine, as it inhibits the effect of histamine.

You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or worse after 7 days. Loratadine contained in Loratadine Orifarm may also be approved for treating other conditions not mentioned in this leaflet.

Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or another healthcare professional if you have further questions, and always follow their instructions.

What You Need To Know Before You Use Loratadine Orifarm

Do Not Take Loratadine Orifarm

  • If you are allergic to loratadine or other ingredients of Loratadine Orifarm (listed in section 6).

Warnings And Cautions

Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before taking Loratadine Orifarm.

  • If you have severe hepatic impairment.
  • If you have a rare hereditary predisposition to lactose intolerance, the enzyme lacks lactase which breaks down lactose (total lactase deficiency), or cannot absorb certain carbohydrates (glucose-galactose malabsorption).

If you are going to perform a skin prick test, treatment with Loratadine Orifarm should be stopped at least 48 hours before the test as the treatment may prevent or reduce otherwise positive results.

Children

Do not give Loratadine Orifarm tablets to children under 6 years of age or children weighing 30 kg or less. Other forms of medicine are more suitable for children with a body weight of 30 kg or less.

Other Medicines And Loratadine Orifarm

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.

The side effects of Loratadine Orifarm may increase with the concomitant use of other medicines that affect the function of certain liver enzymes responsible for the breakdown of medicines in the liver.

However, in clinical trials, no increase in side effects of loratadine has been observed with drugs that affect the function of these enzymes.

Loratadine Orifarm With Food, Drink, And Alcohol

  • Loratadine Orifarm can be taken with or without food.
  • Loratadine Orifarm has not been shown to increase the effects of alcohol.

Pregnancy And Breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Pregnancy

Do not take Loratadine Orifarm if you are pregnant other than as prescribed by your doctor.

Breastfeeding

Do not take Loratadine Orifarm if breastfeeding, as loratadine is excreted in human milk.

Driving And Using Machines

In clinical trials examining the ability to drive, no deterioration was seen in people receiving loratadine. The recommended dose of Loratadine Orifarm is not expected to make you drowsy or less alert.

However, in rare cases, drowsiness may occur in some people, affecting their ability to drive and use machines.

You are responsible for assessing whether you can drive a motor vehicle or perform work requiring sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects or side effects.

Descriptions of these effects and side effects can be found in other sections. Read all the information in this leaflet for guidance. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
