What Paracetamol EQL Pharma Is, And Paracetamol Eql Pharma Used For

Paracetamol EQL Pharma contains paracetamol which is analgesic and antipyretic. Paracetamol eql pharma used for aches and pains of various kinds (eg headache, toothache, menstrual pain, muscle and joint pain, and rheumatic pain) and fever (eg colds).

Paracetamol EQL Pharma can be used by people with sensitive stomachs or ulcers and with an increased tendency to bleed.

Paracetamol contained in Paracetamol EQL Pharma may also be approved for treating other conditions not mentioned in this leaflet. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare professionals if you have further questions, and always follow their instructions.

What You Need To Know Before Using Paracetamol EQL Pharma

Do Not Use Paracetamol EQL Pharma

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol or any other ingredients of Paracetamol EQL Pharma (listed in section 6).
  • If you have severe hepatic impairment.

Warnings And Cautions

If you are taking other painkillers that contain paracetamol, do not use Paracetamol EQL Pharma without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

Warning: Never take Paracetamol EQL Pharma more than what is stated in the dosing instructions or what your doctor has prescribed. A higher dose than recommended does not provide better pain relief but carries the risk of serious liver damage. The symptoms of liver damage usually come only after a few days. Therefore, you must contact a doctor immediately if you have taken too large a dose, even if you are feeling well.

  • Do not use Paracetamol EQL Pharma without a doctor’s prescription if you have alcohol problems or liver damage, as it can seriously damage your liver.
  • Also, do not use Paracetamol EQL Pharma with alcohol. The addition of Paracetamol EQL Pharma does not increase the intoxicating effect of alcohol.

Ask your doctor for advice before using Paracetamol EQL Pharma:

  • If you have liver or kidney disease (including Gilbert’s syndrome or hepatitis)
  • If you are taking other medicines that affect the liver
  • If you have asthma and are at the same time sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid
  • If you are dehydrated, malnourished, or underweight, for example, due to insufficient dietary intake or incorrect diet
  • If you are deficient in an enzyme called glucose -6-phosphate dehydrogenase
  • If you have a serious infection, such as Blood poisoning can increase the risk of so-called metabolic acidosis. Signs of metabolic acidosis include
    • Deep, rapid
    • Strained breathing
    • Nausea, vomiting
    • Loss of appetite

Contact a doctor immediately if you get a combination of these symptoms. Keep out of sight and reach of children and young people.

Children And Young People

Children:

Contact a doctor before using Paracetamol EQL Pharma if:

  • The child is difficult to carry or has abdominal pain, stiff neck, or back pain.
  • The child has severe problems with the ears, throat, or trachea.

If the child has a fever, contact a doctor if:

  • The child did not drink or lose much fluid due to persistent vomiting or diarrhoea.
  • The treatment did not affect the pain or fever after the first day.
  • New symptoms appear, or stomach pain/upset worsens or lasts a long time.

Other Medicines And Paracetamol EQL Pharma

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.

Paracetamol EQL Pharma may affect or be affected by certain medicines / herbal medicines:

  • Metoclopramide or domperidone (medicines for nausea and vomiting).
  • Warfarin (blood-thinning drug). Contact your treating physician if you are taking more than 2 tablets of paracetamol eql pharma 500 mg per day for 5 consecutive days or more than 1 tablet of Paracetamol EQL Pharma (à 1g) per day for 5 consecutive days. There is a risk that the effect of warfarin will be affected.
  • Probenecid (medicine for gout ).
  • Certain remedies for epilepsy:* phenytoin* phenobarbital* carbamazepine
  • Rifampicin (a medicine used to treat tuberculosis ).
  • Isoniazid (treatment of tuberculosis )
  • Cholestyramine (medicine for high blood fats). The medication should be taken at least one hour apart.
  • Chloramphenicol for injection (medicine for bacterial infections). (However, chloramphenicol can be used simultaneously against infection in your eye and Paracetamol EQL Pharma.)
  • St. John’s wort extract (included in some (traditional) herbal and herbal remedies for the treatment of depression).
    Therefore, consult your pharmacist or treating physician before using Paracetamol EQL Pharma with any of these medicines / herbal remedies.

Never use several different painkillers at the same time without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Paracetamol EQL Pharma With Food, Drink, And Alcohol

Concomitant use of Paracetamol EQL Pharma and alcohol consumption should be avoided. The addition of paracetamol does not increase the intoxicating effect of alcohol.

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, And Fertility

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

If necessary, Paracetamol EQL Pharma can be used during pregnancy. However, you should use the lowest possible dose that relieves your pain and fever and use the medicine for the shortest possible time. Contact a doctor or midwife if the pain and fever do not decrease or if you need to take medicine more often. 

Transfers to breast milk, but is unlikely to affect breastfed infants. However, consult a physician if more than temporary use of Paracetamol EQL Pharma during breastfeeding.

Driving And Using Machines

Paracetamol EQL Pharma does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

How To Use Paracetamol EQL Pharma

  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
  • Note! Higher doses than those recommended carry a risk of very serious liver damage.
  • The recommended dose is:
    • 1 g tablets:
    • Adults and adolescents over 40 kg (over 12 years): 1/2 – 1 tablet every 4-6 hours, maximum 4 tablets per day.
    • The tablet can be divided into two equal doses.
  • Paracetamol EQL Pharma should not be used for long-term use other than as prescribed by a doctor.

If You Use More Paracetamol EQL Pharma Than You Should 

  • If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g. If a child has inadvertently ingested a medicine, contact a doctor or hospital immediately for risk assessment and advice.
  • An overdose of paracetamol can cause serious liver damage with a risk of fatal outcomes.
  • There is a risk of liver damage even if you feel well.
  • To prevent liver damage, getting medical treatment as early as possible is important. The shorter the time between overdose and starting antidote treatment (as few hours as possible), the greater the chance that liver damage can be prevented.
  • If you have any further questions about the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible Paracetamol Eql Pharma Side Effects

This medicine can cause side effects like all medicines, although not everybody gets them.

Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience the following. If necessary, call 112:

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

  • Angioedema, very severe allergic reaction:
    • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
    • Difficulty swallowing
    • Hives and difficulty breathing
  • Allergic reactions such as rash and hives. Even less severe skin reactions, rashes, and itching may occur.
  • Liver effects. This can be very serious and cause symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, and loss of appetite.

Very rare ( may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):

  • Bleeding from the skin and mucous membranes and bruising, general lethargy, the tendency to inflammation ( infections ), especially sore throat and fever due to changes in the blood (decreased number of white blood cells and platelets )
  • Severe difficulty breathing with wheezing
  • Kidney side effects
  • Paleness, fatigue, and jaundice due to severe anaemia
  • Very rare cases of severe skin reactions have been reported
  • Anaphylaxis: 
    • Hypersensitivity reaction with fever, rash, swelling
    • Sometimes a drop in blood pressure.

How To Store Paracetamol EQL Pharma

  • Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children and adolescents.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
  • No special storage instructions.
  • Do not use this medicine if the foil or jar seal was not intact at the time of purchase. In such cases, contact the pharmacy.
  • Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines that are no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
