1. What Lymecycline Actavis Is And What Is Lymecycline Used For

Lymecycline Actavis belongs to a group of medicines called tetracycline antibiotics.

Lymecycline uses to treat moderate to severe acne.

It prevents the growth of bacteria in infections you like:

  • Acne with blackheads and pimples, often also called pimples. Lymecycline Actavis attacks bacteria which is one of the leading causes of acne. These bacteria are called propionibacterium acnes. Ask your doctor if you are not sure why you have been given this medicine.

Lymecycline contained in Lymecycline Actavis may also be approved for the treatment of other conditions not mentioned in this product information. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare professionals if you have any further questions, and always follow their instructions.

What You Need To Know Before You Take Lymecycline Actavis

Do not take

  • If you are allergic to lymphecycline, any other tetracycline antibiotics, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • If you have ever had a kidney disease.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking systemic retinoids including oral retinoids (this group of medicines contains some other medicines used to treat acne ).

Lymecycline Actavis must not be given to children under 8 years of age.

Warnings And Cautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before Lymecycline uses

  • If you have had liver problems
  • If you have had kidney problems
  • If you have systemic lupus erythematosus (an allergic condition that causes joint pain, rash, or fever)
  • If you have myasthenia gravis (a disease that weakens the muscles).

You should avoid direct exposure to sunlight and artificial sunlight in the solarium. If you get skin problems, stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor.

Children And Young People

Lymecycline Actavis is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age as it may cause permanent discoloration of the tooth enamel and affect skeletal development.

Other Medicines And Lymecycline Actavis

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.

Do not take the following medicines at the same time as Lymecycline Actavis as they may affect the medicine’s effect. Take them at least two hours before or two hours after taking Lymecycline Actavis:

  • Remedies for indigestion
  • Remedies for stomach ulcers
  • Quinapril (for high blood pressure )
  • Dietary supplements containing 
    • Calcium
    • Aluminum
    • Magnesium
    • Zinc
    • Iron
  • Didanosine (used to treat HIV ).

Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following:

  • Systemic retinoids including oral retinoids (for acne )
  • Anticoagulants (to prevent blood clots)
  • Diuretics (used to treat kidney disease, heart disease, and high blood pressure )

Lymecycline Actavis With Food And Drink

Absorption of this tablet is not affected by moderate amounts of milk (eg a glass). It should always take a glass of water.

Pregnancy And Breastfeeding

Consult a doctor before taking any medicine.

You must not take Lymecycline Actavis if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The use of drugs such as Lymecycline Actavis can affect the development of the teeth and lead to permanent discoloration.

Driving And Using Machines

No studies on the ability to drive and use machines have been performed.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects.

3. How To Use Lymecycline Actavis

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Adults and children over 12 years

Moderate to severe acne

The recommended dose is one Lymecycline Actavis capsule once a day, preferably in the morning. Lymecycline Actavis capsules should always be taken with a glass of water in a sitting or standing position. They should be taken with a light meal that does not contain dairy products.

How long treatment with Lymecycline Actavis should last depends on how quickly your condition improves. For acne, it usually takes at least 8 to 12 weeks. The doctor may decide that the treatment should last for a maximum of 6 months.

Children

Do not give Lymecycline Actavis to children under 8 years of age.

Lymecycline Actavis is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age as it may cause permanent discoloration of the tooth enamel and affect skeletal development.

Impaired renal function

If you have kidney problems, your doctor may reduce your dose.

If You Use More Lymecycline Actavis Than You Should  

If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g. If a child has ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor, hospital, or the Poison Information Center (tel. 112) for risk assessment and advice.

If You Forget To Take Lymecycline Actavis

If you forget to take a dose, take it only when you remember and continue as before if it is not your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. You should never take more capsules than your doctor recommends.

If You Stop Using Lymecycline Actavis

Acne responds slowly to antibiotics. It is important that you take all the capsules of Lymecycline Actavis that your doctor has prescribed. If you stop taking Lymecycline Actavis too soon, your acne or infection may worsen or recur.

4. Side Effects Of Lymecycline

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

If you get any of the following serious side effects, stop taking the capsules and contact a doctor immediately or go to the nearest emergency room. This also applies to any side effects not mentioned in this information.

Has been reported (occurs in an unknown number of users):

  • A severe allergic reaction causes swelling of the face, tongue, and throat, which can cause severe difficulty breathing.
  • Severe disease with severely scaly skin and skin swelling
    • Blistering of the skin
    • Mouth, eyes
    • Genitals
    • Fever
  • Skin rash with pink-red spots, especially on the palms or soles of the feet, possibly with blistering.

  • Changes in certain blood tests (liver function tests)
  • Fever
  • Itching
  • Rash or Hives
  • Inflammation of the intestine

The following side effects may occur during treatment with the group of medicines to which Lymecycline Actavis belongs ( tetracyclines ):

  • Inflammation or ulceration of the esophagus causes pain and difficulty swallowing or painful heartburn
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Inflammation of the pancreas
  • Liver damage
  • Discoloration of the teeth
  • Inflammation or tenderness in the tongue, mouth, cheeks, gums, or lips
  • Tenderness or itching around the genitals
  • Yeast infection around the anus or genitals
  • Infection of the colon
  • Permanent visual impairment

5. How To Store Lymecycline Actavis

  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. or EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
