1. What Glucose Fresenius Kabi is and what it is used for

Glucose Fresenius Kabi is used to raise the blood sugar level in case of too low blood sugar ( hypoglycaemia ) as it is not possible to supply sugar by mouth (insulin coma).

2. What you need to know before you are given Glucose Fresenius Kabi

You should not be given Glucose Fresenius Kabi

if you are allergic to glucose or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Tell your doctor or nurse if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

There are no known risks of using this medicine during pregnancy and lactation.

Driving and using machines

This medicine has no known effect on the ability to drive or use machines.

3. How to Give Glucose Fresenius Kabi

Your doctor will decide on a dose based on your blood sugar level and body weight. Glucose Fresenius Kabi will be given intravenously (directly into the bloodstream via a vein) to you by healthcare professionals.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects , although not everybody gets them.

Common side effects are (may affect up to 1 in 10): thrombosis and concomitant inflammation in superficial blood vessels ( thrombophlebitis ).

5. How to store Glucose Fresenius Kabi

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label after EXP. dat. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

No special storage instructions.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
