1. What Galexir is and what it is used for

Galexir is a traditional herbal medicine used for occasional indigestion such as bloating and flatulence.

The indications for traditional herbal medicine are based solely on the experience of long-term use

2. What you need to know before you use Galexir

Do not take Galexir

  • if you are allergic to artichoke, gullgentiana, turmeric or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • if you are allergic to basket-flowered plants (eg red sun hat, grebe, daisy or wormwood).
  • in ulcers or ulcers of the duodenum a.
  • in case of blockage in the bile ducts, bile duct inflammation, liver disease, gallstones and other biliary tract diseases .

Children and young people

Galexir is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age, as experience is limited.

Other medicines and Galexir

Drugs can affect each other’s effects. It cannot be ruled out that Galexir may potentiate the effect of blood thinners (so-called anticoagulants, such as Warren) when used concomitantly. It is therefore important that you tell your doctor that you are taking Galexir.

In case of contact with a doctor or other healthcare professional, remember to tell them that you are taking or have recently taken this medicine.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

In the absence of adequate data, Galexir should not be used by pregnant or lactating women.

The potential effect of the drug on fertility has not been studied.

Driving and using machines

Galexir has no or negligible effect on the ability to drive and use machines.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires increased attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects. Descriptions of these effects and side effects can be found in other sections. Read all the information in this leaflet for guidance. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or other healthcare professional.

Galexir contains fructose

Galexir contains 4 – 8 g of fructose per dose . This should be considered by patients with diabetes mellitus. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

3. How to use Galexir

Adults, the elderly, and adolescents from 12 years: 20 – 40 ml 3 times daily.

Not recommended for children under 12 years.

The supplied dosage measurements should be used for proper dosing.

After taking the dose, the bottle should be tightly closed and immediately placed in the refrigerator.

Galexir is intended for temporary use. You should consult a doctor if the symptoms worsen or do not improve.

If you use more Galexir than you should

If you have ingested too much medicine or if, for example, a child has accidentally ingested the medicine, contact a doctor, hospital, or the Poison Information Center for risk assessment and advice.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Galexir can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

In rare cases, allergic reactions affecting the skin and respiratory tract may occur. Cases of diarrhea, cramping abdominal pain, headache, tachycardia (palpitations), and itching have been reported. Milder symptoms such as dry mouth, flatulence, and stomach irritation may occur. The frequency of these side effects is unknown.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. This also applies to any side effects not mentioned in this information. You can also report side effects directly to the Medical Products Agency. By reporting side effects, you can help increase drug safety information.

5. How to store Galexir

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Unopened packaging is stored at a maximum of 25ºC.

Opened packaging should be stored in a refrigerator (2ºC – 8ºC).

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

Opened packaging is durable for 4 weeks when stored in the refrigerator.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask the pharmacy staff to discard medicines that are no longer used. These measures will help to protect the environment.

6. Contents of the packaging and other information

Content declaration

– The active substance in Galexir (1 ml) is 470 mg of liquid extract of artichoke, golden gentian, and turmeric, corresponding to:

32 mg dried leaf from artichoke ( Cynara scolymus L.),

8 mg dried root of golden gentian ( Gentiana lutea L.),

6 mg dried turmeric rootstock ( Curcuma longa L.).

What the medicine looks like and contents of the pack

Transparent to slightly cloudy light brown to brown liquid with herb-like smell and sweet herb-like very bitter taste.

Galexir is available in packs of 250 ml solution.
