Nucala contains the active substance mepolizumab , a monoclonal antibody , a type of protein that is designed to recognize a specific target substance in the body. It is used to treat severe asthma and EGPA ( eosinophilic granulomatous polyangitis) in adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age. It is also used to treat chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps and HES (hypereosinophilic syndrome) in adults.
