Platelets ( platelets ) are small cells in the blood that cause the blood to coagulate and can cause blood clots to form. When a blood clot occurs in an artery, blood flow is stopped and the oxygen supply is turned off. When this happens in the heart, it can cause a heart attack or angina pectoris; in the brain, it can cause strokes.
