What Valerina Natt is and what is it used for

Valerian Natt is a traditional herbal medicine used for problems falling asleep.

The indications for traditional herbal medicine are based exclusively on the experience of long-term use.

What you need to know before using Valerina Natt

Do not take Valerina Natt

  • if you are allergic to valerian root, hops, lemon balm, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions

Contact a doctor if symptoms worsen during treatment.

Children

Children under 12 years of age should not be treated with Valerina Natt due to a lack of sufficient data.

Other medicines and Valerina Natt

Do not use other sleeping pills or sedatives at the same time as Valerina Natt without first talking to a doctor.

When contacting a doctor or other healthcare professional, remember to mention that you are taking or have recently taken this over-the-counter medicine.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility

In the absence of sufficient data, Valerina Natt should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

The drug’s possible effect on fertility has not been studied.

Driving ability and use of machinery

Valerian Natt can impair the ability to drive and use machines. If you feel influenced by Valerina Natt, you should e.g. not drive, or use tools or machines.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires increased attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects. A description of these effects and side effects can be found in other sections. Read all the information in this leaflet for guidance. Discuss with a doctor or other healthcare professional if you are unsure.

Valerina Natt contains lactose

Valerina Natt contains lactose . If you have an intolerance to some sugars, you should consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

How to use Valerina Natt

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor. Consult a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you are unsure.

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of liquid.

Adults, the elderly, and young people over 12 years of age

The recommended dose is 2-4 tablets ½ -1 hour before bedtime. If necessary, take 1 tablet earlier in the evening.

Contact a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve during treatment.

Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

If you have taken too much Valerina Natt

If you have ingested too much medicine or if, for example, a child accidentally ingested the medicine, contact a doctor or hospital for an assessment of the risk and advice.

If you have any further questions about this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects from the gastrointestinal tract such as nausea and stomach cramps have been reported.

How Valerina Natt should be stored

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Store at a maximum of 25 ºC.

Store in the original packaging. Light sensitive.

Use before the expiry date which is stated on the carton after the Expiration date. and on the blister after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

Medicines must not be thrown into the drain or among the household waste. Ask the pharmacist how to dispose of medicines that are no longer used. These measures will help to protect the environment.

Contents declaration

  • The active substances in 1 tablet are:

    80 mg extract of valerian ( Valeriana officinalis L.), root, corresponding to 420-600 mg of dried valerian root. The extract contains 20 mg of excipients. The extractant is ethanol 60% v/v (disappears during manufacture).
    86.7 mg extract of hops ( Humulus lupulus L.), cone, corresponding to approx. 292-552 mg dried hop cone. The extract contains approximately 21.7 mg of excipients. The extractant is ethanol 70% v/v (disappears during manufacture).

    25 mg extract of lemon balm ( Melissa officinalis L.), leaves, corresponding to approx. 124-200 mg of dried lemon balm leaves. The extract contains 7.5 mg of excipients. The extractant is ethanol 60% v/v (disappears during manufacture).
  • Other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, potato starch, cellulose powder, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, macrogol, and titanium dioxide [E171] (color).

Appearance and package sizes of the medicine

The film-coated tablets are biconvex, round, white, and 11 mm in diameter.

Pack sizes: 20, 40, 80, and 240 tablets in blister cards.

Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
