What Pilocarpine Trimb is and what it is used for

Pilocarpine Trimb contains the active substance pilocarpine hydrochloride and belongs to a group of medicines called glaucoma and miotics.

Pilocarpine Trimb is used to lower the pressure in the eye at elevated pressure ( glaucoma, glaucoma ).

Pilocarpine Trimb lowers the pressure in the eye by facilitating the outflow of the fluid that circulates in the front of the eye. Pilocarpine Trimb also provides a reduction of pupil one.

Pilocarpine hydrochloride contained in Pilocarpine Trimb may also be approved for the treatment of other conditions not mentioned in this leaflet. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or another healthcare professional if you have any further questions, and always follow their instructions.

What you need to know before you use Pilocarpine Trimb

Do not use Pilocarpine Trimb

  • if you are allergic to pilocarpine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • if you have an inflammation of the iris. Therefore, consult a doctor if the inflammation of the eye occurs.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy

Pilocarpine Trimb is not expected to pose a risk to the fetus and can therefore be used during pregnancy.

Breast-feeding

Pilocarpine Trimb is not considered to pose a risk to the newborn baby’s health and can therefore be used during breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines

Pilocarpine Trimb may cause myopia in some users. Driving or driving another vehicle should not be done before the sight has been checked.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects. Descriptions of these effects and side effects can be found in other sections. Read all the information in this leaflet for guidance. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

How to use Pilocarpine Trimb

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Dosage instructions

Dose one is determined by the doctor, who adjusts it individually for you.

The recommended dose for adults is 1 drop 2-3 times a day.

Instructions for use

  • Open the envelope at the line mark and pull out a single-dose container.
  • Close the envelope by folding the edge.
  • Shake the contents of the bottom of the single-dose container.
  • Open the single-dose container by turning the wing (see picture).
  • Drop 1 drop into the eye/eyes and then discard the single-dose container even if it is not empty.

The contents of a single-dose container are sufficient for both eyes. Always take a new single-dose container at each dosing time. To make it easier to drip the eye drops into the eye, you can use drip support that is available at the pharmacy.

If you use more Pilokarpin Trimb than you should 

If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g. If a child has ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor or hospital for risk assessment and advice.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following side effects have been seen with Pilocarpine Trimb:

Common (affects more than 1 user in 100 ):  Headache and myopia, especially at the beginning of treatment due to eye cramps. Irritation of the conjunctiva of the eye.

Rare (affects less than 1 user in 1,000) Allergic reactions. Cholinergic effects such as increased tear and sweat production, slow heart rate, increased production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, diarrhea, and nausea.

How to store Pilocarpine Trimb

Single-dose containers in an opened inner envelope should be consumed within one month.

Unopened packaging is used before the expiration date on the packaging.

Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

Contents of the package and other information

Content declaration

The active substance is pilocarpine hydrochloride 20 mg / ml (2%) and 40 mg / ml (4%)

The other ingredients are sodium chloride (only in eye drops 2%), hypromellose, sodium hydroxide, and water for injections.

What the medicine looks like and the contents of the pack

Each package contains 60 single-dose containers made of polyethylene.

The single-dose containers are packed in maps of 10, in aluminum foil envelopes.

Each single-dose container is marked with an ARROW and marked on the wing with 2 resp. 4 for the forces 2% resp. 4%.
