Oxibuprocaine Bausch & Lomb is a local anesthetic eye drop used in eye examinations.
What you need to know before you use Oxibuprocaine Bausch and Lomb
Do not use Oxibuprocaine Bausch and Lomb
- if you are allergic to oxibuprocaine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and cautions
Damage to the cornea can occur if the local anesthetic is given for a long time.
Protect the eye when it is anesthetized against foreign particles due to impaired sensation.
Contact a doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of a severe allergic/anaphylactic reaction (see section 4).
Other drugs and Oxibuprocaine Bausch and Lomb
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
Oxibuprocaine reduces the effect of certain antibiotics ( sulfonamides ).
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility
Oxibuprocaine Bausch & Lomb can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Driving and using machines
Oxibuprocaine Bausch & Lomb may cause transient blurred vision. You should therefore not drive or use machines until your vision is normal again.
You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects. How to use Oxibuprocaine Bausch and Lomb
Oxibrupocaine Bausch & Lomb is given by healthcare professionals.
1-2 drops when measuring eye pressure. For local anesthesia, for example when removing foreign objects in the eye or when fitting contact lenses, give 1 drop 3-4 times at intervals of about 30 seconds.
If you use more Oxibuprocaine Bausch and Lomb then you should
If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g. If a child has ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor or hospital for risk assessment and advice.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or nurse.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
You must contact a doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms of a severe allergic/anaphylactic reaction: swelling, rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing, chills, hot flashes, headache, general malaise, nausea, restlessness, rapid heartbeat, or low blood pressure with an unknown number of users).
Other side effects that may occur:
Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
The most common side effect is local irritation. Other common side effects are temporary burning after instillation, corneal damage with repeated use.
Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
Shaking, blurred vision, slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, dizziness.
Has been reported (occurs in an unknown number of users):
Eye allergy, allergic blepharitis (eyelid inflammation). Symptoms of eye allergy and allergic blepharitis can include itchy, red, and swollen eyelids, red eyes, irritated and watery eyes, burning or stinging eyes, scales, and crusts on the lash line, similar dandruff, photosensitivity.
How to store Oxibuprocaine Bausch and Lomb
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store above 25 ° C. Do not freeze. Store in the original package. Sensitive to light.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
