Mini-Pe 0.35 mg Norethisterone Tablets
What Is Mini-Pe And What It Is Used For
Mini-pe pfizer uses to prevent pregnancy.
Mini-Pe contains a female sex hormone, progestogen, and norethisterone. Mini-Pe belongs to the type of birth control pill, which is called “mini-pill”. The mini-pill got its name because each tablet contains only a small amount of hormone. Mini-Pe prevents pregnancy, first and foremost because the progestogen turns the mucus in the cervix into a “plug”, which the sperm can not penetrate. The uterine lining becomes thinner and less vascular than normal. Mini-Pe also prevents ovulation, but not to the same extent as combined contraceptive tablets.
The tablets should be taken every day (preferably at the same time), even during menstruation, and the method is then almost as safe as regular birth control pills.
Norethisterone contained in Mini-Pe may also be approved for the treatment of other conditions not mentioned in this product information. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare professionals if you have any further questions, and always follow their instructions.
What You Need To Know Before Using Mini-Pe
Do Not Take Mini-Pe
- If you are allergic to norethisterone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- If you have or have had abnormal genital bleeding.
Warnings And Cautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before taking Mini-Pe
have or have had any of the following diseases because treatment with
mini- pills should then only be taken under strict medical supervision:
- Liver disease
- Epilepsy
- Previous gestational diabetes
- Ectopic pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy)
The protection that Mini-Pe provides against ectopic pregnancies is not quite as effective as against normal pregnancies. You should therefore contact your doctor if you miss your period or if you experience persistent, low-lying abdominal pain during the treatment period.
If you vomit or have diarrhea, or if you are treated with medical carbon during treatment with Mini-Pe, you can not be sure that the hormone is absorbed into the body and thus the effect can be reduced. Another form of preservative should then be used during that time as well as during the following week.
If it is more than 60 days after the last menstrual period without new bleeding occurring, you should check that you are not pregnant through a pregnancy test. If menstruation continues to be absent, it is recommended that the pregnancy test be repeated. Repeated negative pregnancy tests and continued missed periods, indicate that ovulation has been inhibited, which in some women is a natural consequence of the treatment. Talk to your doctor or midwife.
If you become ill and need treatment from a doctor who does not know that you are taking mini-pills, it may be important for the doctor to get this information. Therefore, tell the doctor who is treating you that you are using mini-pills.
The risk of breast cancer generally increases with age. During treatment with birth control pills, the risk of getting breast cancer is slightly increased. Compared with the risk of getting breast cancer at some point in life, the increased risk for contraceptive users is small. The increased risk of breast cancer disappears within 10 years after the end of treatment and is not due to the duration of the treatment but to the woman’s age when using the contraceptive pill.
Mental disorders:
Some women who use hormonal contraceptives, including Mini-pe, have reported depression or depression. Depression can be severe and can sometimes lead to suicidal thoughts. If you experience mood swings and symptoms of depression, you should contact a doctor as soon as possible for advice.
Other Medicines And Mini-Pe
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.

- Griseofulvin (fungicide in tablet form)
- Rifabutin and rifampicin (tuberculosis drug)
St. John’s wort ( Hypericum perforatum ) should not be used during medication with Mini-Pe due to the risk of the reduced effect of the contraceptive pill. Inform your doctor in the weeks before starting treatment.

How To Use Mini-Pe
Mini-pe pfizer uses
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
The first tablet is taken on the first day of menstruation, regardless of whether you have previously taken birth control pills or not. Thereafter, one tablet is taken daily at about the same time of day.
The first tablet is one of the tablets, where the day of the week mark on the tablet card corresponds to the current day of the week. Then take a tablet daily in the order they are in the direction of the arrow. The next tablet map is used when the previous map has been used.
Example: If the last tablet on a tablet card is taken on a Monday, the next tablet card is started with a tablet marked “Tuesday”. There should therefore be no pause between the tablet maps.
The tablets must be taken every day, even during menstruation, even if menstruation is prolonged, and even if sparse bleeding occurs between two menstrual periods.
The protective effect occurs already on the first day of treatment if the tablets are taken according to the dosing instructions.
If You Forget To Use Mini-Pe
If you forget a tablet, take it as soon as you discover it. If more than 27-30 hours have elapsed between two tablet intakes, the protective effect may have ceased and supplementary protection should then be used with Mini-Pe during the next week. The next tablet is taken at the usual time.
If You Stop Using Mini-Pe
If you are taking a break from the mini-pills and do not want to get pregnant, then remember to use another preservative.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
