1. What Glitinum is and what it is used for

Glitinum is a traditional herbal medicine used to prevent migraine headaches. Used after a serious illness has been ruled out by a doctor.

The indications for traditional herbal medicine are based solely on experience with long-term use.

2. What you need to know before you use Glitinum

Do not use Glitinum

  • if you are allergic to food frames, other plants of the family Asteraceae (Compositae) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and cautions

Contact a doctor or other healthcare professional if symptoms worsen while using the medicine.

Children and young people

The drug should not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as the information base is insufficient.

Other medicines and Glitinum

In case of contact with a doctor or other healthcare professional, remember to tell them that you are taking or have recently taken this medicine.

Glitinum with food, drink and alcohol

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

The use of Glitinum during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended as the information base is insufficient. Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Traditional experience, however, suggests that Tanacetum parthenium (mattram) can stimulate menstrual bleeding and induce abortion.

The potential effect of the drug on female and male fertility has not been studied.

Driving and using machines

Glitinum has no or negligible effect on the ability to drive and use machines.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects. Descriptions of these effects and side effects can be found in other sections. Read all the information in this leaflet for guidance. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or other healthcare professional.

3. How to use Glitinum

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or other healthcare professional. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor, healthcare professional, or pharmacist.

The recommended dose for adults and the elderly is 1 capsule daily.

Swallow the capsule whole (with water or a little liquid). Do not chew the capsules.

If the symptoms persist for more than 2 months while using the medicine, you should consult a doctor or other healthcare professional.

Glitinum should not be used for more than 3 months.

Use for children and adolescents

Do not use by children and adolescents under 18 years.

If you use more Glitinum than you should  

If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g. a child ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor, hospital, or the Poison Information Center for risk assessment and advice.

If you forget to use Glitinum

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Take the next dose as usual.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Gastrointestinal disorders have been reported, but the frequency is unknown (cannot be calculated from the available data).

5. How to store Glitinum

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

Do not store above 25 ° C.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

6. Contents of the packaging and other information

Content declaration

  • The active substance is powdered mat frame.Each capsule contains 100 mg of powdered Tanacetum parthenium (L.) Schulz Bip. (mattram), herb, equivalent to 100 mg of dried matramar herb.
  • The other ingredients are dextrin; colloidal , anhydrous silica; talc; magnesium stearate; titanium dioxide (E171); hypromellos.

What the medicine looks like and contents of the pack

White, opaque, hard capsule (19.4×7.0 mm). The contents of the capsule are beige-green.

The capsules are packaged in blister packs.

The medicine is available in packs containing 30, 60, 90, and 120 hard capsules. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
