1. What Vitamin D Water ACO is and what it is used for

D Vitamin Water ACO is a vitamin D solution is used to prevent vitamin D deficiency in children. D vitamin is needed among other things for the body to absorb calcium. Vitamin D deficiency in children can lead to soft and deformed bones ( rickets ).

D Vitamin Water ACO is recommended for children up to 2 years of age.

Some children may need vitamin D drops up to the age of 5 and this applies to:

  • children who do not receive vitamin D-fortified foods
  • children with dark skin color
  • children who do not spend enough time outdoors in the summer or have clothes that cover their face, arms, and legs

2. What you need to know before using vitamin D water ACO

Do not use Vitamin D Water ACO

  • if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Vitamin D Water ACO, see section 6: Contents of the pack and other information).
  • if you are also taking other preparations containing D- vitamin. Vitamin D is fat-soluble and can accumulate in the body. You should therefore not exceed the recommended dosage as it may lead to poisoning if overdose occurs over a long period of time.

D Vitamin Water ACO contains sodium, sorbitol, and macrogol glycerol ricinoleate

Sodium

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per dose unit, ie essentially ‘sodium-free’.

Macrogolglycerolricinoleate

This medicine contains macrogol glycerol ricinoleate which may cause stomach upset and diarrhea.

Sorbitol 

Children weighing less than 3200 g

This medicine contains 16 mg sorbitol per unit dose. Sorbitol is a source of fructose. If your child weighs less than 3200 g and/or does not tolerate certain sugars, or has been diagnosed with hereditary fructose intolerance; a rare inherited disease that makes it impossible to break down fructose, consult a doctor before your child uses this medicine.

3. How to use Vitamin D Water ACO

Always use Vitamin D Water ACO as stated in the package leaflet. Larger doses should not be given without a doctor’s prescription. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

The recommended dose for children 0-2 years: 5 drops daily

The recommended dose for some children up to 5 years: 5 drops daily

5 drops correspond to about 400 IU of vitamin D.

Turn the bottle upside down and shake lightly to get the first drop.

Can be diluted with water, milk, or juice if desired.

If you have used too much Vitamin D Water ACO

If your child has accidentally ingested the medicine, contact a doctor, hospital, or the Poison Information Center for risk assessment and advice.

If you forget to use Vitamin D Water ACO

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you stop using Vitamin D Water ACO

If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Very few side effects, such as stomach cramps, have been reported with this product.

5. Vitamin Vitamin A Water ACO should be stored

Keep out of sight and reach of children.

An unopened bottle is used before the expiry date stated on the bottle after the expiry date. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month. The opened bottle is durable for 6 months.

Store in a refrigerator (2 ° C-8 ° C).

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment. The empty bottle can be left for glass recycling.

6. Contents of the packaging and other information

Content declaration

  • The active substance is cholecalciferol ( vitamin D 3 ). 1 ml Vitamin D Water ACO contains cholecalciferol 68 micrograms equivalent to 2720 IU vitamin D 3.
  • The other ingredients are sorbitol, liquid (non-crystallizing) 106.7 mg/ml, butyl hydroxyanisole, propyl gallate, sorbic acid, saccharin sodium, peppermint oil, citric acid, disodium phosphate dihydrate, purified water, macrogol glycerol ricinoleate.

What the medicine looks like and the contents of the pack

D Vitamin Water ACO is a clear or almost clear, pale yellow liquid with a faint odor of peppermint.

Pack sizes: 25 ml (850 drops), brown glass bottle with drip insert.
