Tetracaine Bausch & Lomb is a local anesthetic eye drop used for eye examinations.
What you need to know before using Tetrakain Bausch and Lomb
Do not use Tetracaine Bausch and Lomb
- if you are allergic to tetracaine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Damage can occur to the cornea if the local anesthetic is given for a long time.
Protect the eye when anesthetized from foreign particles due to reduced sensation.
Other medicines and Tetracaine Bausch and Lomb
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used, or might be using other medicines.
Tetracaine reduces the effect of certain antibiotics ( sulfonamides ).
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility
Tetracaine Bausch & Lomb can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Driving ability and use of machinery
Tetracaine Bausch & Lomb may cause temporary blurred vision. You should therefore not drive or use machinery until your vision returns to normal.
You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires increased attention. How to use Tetracaine Bausch and Lomb
Tetracaine Bausch & Lomb is given by healthcare professionals.
The recommended dose is 1-2 drops in each eye.
If you have used too much Tetrakain Bausch and Lomb
If you have ingested too much medicine or if, for example, a child has ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor or hospital for an assessment of the risk and advice.
If you have any further questions about this medicine, ask your doctor or nurse.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 users):
The most common side effect is local irritation. Other common side effects are temporary burning after installation, blurred vision, and corneal damage with repeated use.
Rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 users):
Allergic reactions, superficial corneal ulcers
How Tetracaine Bausch and Lomb should be stored
Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
Store at a maximum of 25ºC. Do not freeze. Store in the original packaging. Light sensitive.
Use before the expiry date stated on the label on the box after Ex. Date. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
Medicines must not be thrown into the drain or among the household waste. Ask the pharmacist how to dispose of medicines that are no longer used. These measures will help to protect the environment.
