WHAT MOUTH WOOD OIL IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Ointment for cold sores is a traditional herbal medicine used to treat cold sores and other superficial, minor wounds, such as self-cracks in the mouth pores and fingertips.
The indications for traditional herbal medicine are based solely on experience with long-term use.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING MOUTH WOOD
Do not use Ointment for cold sores
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to red sun hat, other basket-flowered plants (eg grasshopper, dandelion, chamomile, wormwood, or daisy), or to any of the other ingredients in Salva for cold sores.
Warnings and cautions
- If you notice signs of skin infection during use, you should consult a doctor for advice.
- Ointment for cold sores is only intended for external use.
- Ointment for cold sores is not recommended for children under 12, as experience is limited.
Other medicines and ointments for cold sores
The effect of concomitant use of other drugs has not been studied.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility
In the absence of adequate data, use during pregnancy and lactation may not be recommended.
The potential effect of the drug on fertility has not been studied.
Driving and using machines
Ointment for cold sores has no or negligible effect on the ability to drive and use machines.
Mouth ointment contains ethanol, wool fatty alcohols, sorbic acid, propylene glycol, and butylhydroxytoluene
This medicine contains 14 mg of alcohol ( ethanol ) in 1 cm ointment, equivalent to 38 mg alcohol / g ointment. It can cause a burning sensation on damaged skin.
This medicine contains wool fatty alcohols and sorbic acid which may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis).
This medicine contains propylene glycol which may cause skin irritation.
This medicine contains butylhydroxytoluene which may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis) or be irritating to the eyes and mucous membranes.
HOW TO USE OINTMENT FOR MOUTH
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor advised. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or healthcare professional.
For use on the skin.
Adults, the elderly, and adolescents from 12 years:
The ointment is applied thinly and opaque 2-3 times daily. Wash hands after application.
Ointment for cold sores should not be used continuously for longer than 7 days per treatment period.
Ointment for cold sores is not recommended for children under 12 years.
If you use too much Salva on cold sores
If you have used too much Salva for cold sores, or if a child has accidentally ingested the ointment, contact a doctor, or healthcare professional for advice.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, cold sores can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Allergic reactions can occur, usually in the form of skin rashes. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions (local rash, contact dermatitis, eczema, and angioedema of the lips) may occur.
Echinacea purpurea can trigger allergic reactions in atopic patients.
HOW TO STORE OINTMENT AT MOUTH WOUNDS
Do not store above 25 ° C.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Unopened packaging is used before the expiry date stated on the packaging. The opened tube can be used for 6 months.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

Content declaration
- The active substance is press juice of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench, herb (red sun hat) 160 mg. In the production of 1 g of ointment, the equivalent of about 336 mg of the fresh herb of red sun hat is needed.
- The other ingredients are purified water, liquid paraffin, yellow petrolatum, propylene glycol, microcrystalline wax, ethanol (96% v / v), glycerin sorbitan fatty acid ester, wool fatty alcohols (contains butylhydroxytoluene (E321)), polyethylene glycol 45 / dodecylglycate glycol sorbate.
