The doctor’s dosing instructions should always be followed, but the recommended dose in adults is usually 125 ml of rectal solution in the rectum every night before bedtime.
Instructions for use.
- Prednisolone Unimedic rectal solution is taken at bedtime. Use a plastic bag as hand protection (see photos).
- Push the protective sleeve down as far as it will go all the way down to the top of the lid (NOTE! Do not turn).
- Remove the depressed protective sleeve.
- Lie on the left side, possibly with a pillow under the hip, and insert the tip of the bottle into the rectum. The insertion can be facilitated if you lubricate the tip with a little Vaseline.
- Start by squeezing out a little, so that the intestine gets used to it, and then slowly empty the contents of the bottle into the intestine for a few minutes.
- Remove the tip when the bottle is emptied, but keep the bottle still compressed to prevent re-suction.
- If you need to pause while using the rectal solution, pull out the spout with the bottle still compressed to prevent re-suction. Then continue injecting the rest of the medicine. Discard the bottle after use.
- Rollover on your stomach and stay in this position for 3-5 minutes!
- The rectal fluid should be kept in the intestine for as long as possible, preferably overnight.
Thread the plastic bag over your hand and grab the bottle. Keep the handle around the bottle after it has been emptied. Pull the bag down over the bottle, which is then thrown away.
