Noviform 5% Eye ointment bibrocatol

What Noviform Is And What It Is Used For

This medicine has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.

It is used for temporary eye problems, such as mild inflammation of the eyelids and the conjunctiva of the eye (the membrane that covers the inside of the eyelid and the white part of the eye) as well as for legal and other external eye conditions.

You need to talk to a doctor if your symptoms do not improve within a few days.

Do Not Use Noviform

  • If you are allergic to Noviform 5 bibrocatol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Other Medicines And Noviform

No case has been detected where it has been or has been affected by other medicines.

Pregnancy And Breastfeeding

There are no known risks of use during pregnancy.

It is unknown whether noviform 5 bibrocatol passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Driving And Using Machines

The ointment can for a certain time settle as a film over the eye and cause temporary blurred vision. If this happens, do not drive or use machines until you can see them again.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects.

Noviform Contains Cetostearyl Alcohol And Wool Grease

This medicine contains cetostearyl alcohol and wool grease which may cause local skin irritation (eg contact dermatitis).

How To Use Noviform 5%

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

The recommended dose is an ointment string (½-1 cm) that is placed on the inside of the eyelids 1-2 times daily.

The Noviform eye ointment can settle over the eye for a limited time. It is therefore advisable to put an ointment string in connection with bedtime.

You need to talk to a doctor if your symptoms do not improve within a few days.

Use For Children

Before treating children with Noviform 5%, consult your doctor or nurse for advice.

Instructions For Use

Separate the eyelids (see picture) and place an ointment string (½ -1 cm) on the inside of one eyelid (most suitable on the lower one) using the tip of the tube. To distribute the ointment evenly over the eyeball, keep the eyelids closed and massage lightly in the direction of the nose.

Please note that Noviform 5% may discolor clothing and bed linen.

If You Use More Than You Should

If you have used too much medicine or if, for example, a child has accidentally ingested medicine, contact a doctor or hospital for risk assessment and advice.

If You Forget To Use Noviform

  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you have any further questions about the use of this product, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

Possible Noviform Side Effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very rare Noviform side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people): 

Allergy to Noviform 5 bibrocatol, cetostearyl alcohol, and wool grease may occur.

How To Store Noviform 5 bibrocatol

  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Opened packaging must be used within one month.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
  • Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

Content Declaration

  • The active substance is bibrocatol. 1 g of eye ointment contains 50 mg of bibrocatol.
  • Other excipients are wool grease, cetostearyl alcohol, white Vaseline, and liquid paraffin.

Noviform eye ointment is a yellow ointment packed in a tube containing 5 g ointment.
