What Mildison Lipid Is And What It Is Used For

Mildison Lipid cream contains hydrocortisone which is a mild-acting (group I) cortisone preparation (mild steroid ) for topical use in the form of an oily cream.

Mildison Lipid is used for mild eczema caused by e.g.

  • Soap
  • Detergents
  • Cosmetics
  • Insect bites
  • Sunburn

What You Need To Know Before Using Mildison Lipid Cream

Do Not Use Mildison Lipid 1%:

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • In case of infection, you are caused by bacteria, fungi, or parasites. In these cases, the skin should also be treated with another drug. Consult a physician.

Warnings and cautions

  • Avoid getting cream in your eyes. Wash your hands after using the cream, except when the treatment is intended for your hands.
  • Do not use it in wounds or around the eyes.
  • Contact a doctor if you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances.

Children

  • Large areas of the body in children should not be treated without first consulting a doctor.
  • Children under 2 years of age should only be treated according to a doctor’s prescription.

Pregnancy And Breastfeeding

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Mildison lipid 1 cream.
  • No adverse effects on the fetus have been demonstrated.
  • Passes into breast milk, but the effect on the breastfeeding baby is unlikely.
  • Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Mildison Lipid Contains Benzyl Alcohol, Cetostearyl Alcohol, And Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate

Mildison lipid cream contains 7.5 mg of benzyl alcohol per gram of cream. Benzyl alcohol can cause allergic reactions and mild local irritation. This medicine also contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause a local skin reaction (eg contact dermatitis) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate which may cause an allergic reaction (possibly delayed).

How To Use Mildison Lipid 1%

  • Always use cream exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse has told you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
  • A thin layer of Cream is applied to the affected skin areas twice daily.
  • After the first improvement, the dose can be reduced to once daily or 2-3 times a week and alternated with an emollient cream without hydrocortisone.
  • You must contact a doctor if the symptoms worsen or do not improve after a week.

Possible Mildison Lipid Side Effects

Like all medicines, Mildison Lipid 1 cream can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Uncommon Mildison lipid side effects ( may affect up to 1 in 100 people): 

  • Skin irritation
  • Contact allergy (with itching, redness, and irritation).

Rare Mildison lipid side effects ( may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people) :

  • Skin thinning
  • Dilation of small blood vessels in the skin
  • Small bleeds on the skin
  • Stretch marks on the skin
  • Acne
  • Inflammation of the skin around the mouth
  • Rebound effect (disease symptoms worsen when treatment is stopped)
  • Pigment changes
  • Dermatitis
  • Eczema

Very rare Mildison lipid side effects ( may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people) :

  • Impact on adrenal cortex function.

How To Store Mildison Lipid 1 Cream

  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
  • Do not store above 25 ° C
  • Do not use Mildison lipid cream after the expiry date which is stated on the label and the carton after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
