What Hydrocortisone Apofri is and what it is used for

Hydrocortisone Apofri cream contains the active substance hydrocortisone and is a white, mild-acting hydrocortisone cream (mild steroid ) with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects.

It is used for mild eczema such as contact dermatitis, insect bites and sunburn. The cream one is also suitable for liquid eczema. Can also be used for itching in the rectum after a doctor’s prescription .

2. What you need to know before you use Hydrocortisone Apofri

Do not use Hydrocortisone Apofri

  • if you are allergic to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and cautions

Hydrocortisone Apofri must not be used in open wounds or around the eyes. Rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis ), rosacea and acne should not be treated with steroids . If you have a skin infection, do not use Hydrocortisone Apofri unless your skin infection is being treated at the same time. In that case, consult your doctor who will decide on the appropriate treatment.

Contact a doctor if you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances.

Children

Do not treat children under 2 years of age without a doctor’s prescription .

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

No known risks when used during pregnancy.

Hydrocortisone passes into breast milk but is unlikely to affect breast-fed infants . Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking more than temporary use of Hydrocortisone Apofri during breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

No effect on the ability to drive or use machines.

Hydrocortisone Apofri contains cetostearyl alcohol

Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis).

How to use Hydrocortisone Apofri

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Apply a thin layer of cream on the skin morning and evening or as prescribed by a doctor. After a few days, you can usually reduce the number of coats and alternate with an emollient cream without hydrocortisone.

You must talk to a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve within a week.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): 

  • contact allergy ( hydrocortisone ) in the form of increased itching , redness and irritation.

Has been reported (occurs in an unknown number of users): 

  • Eyes: Blurred vision

5. How to store Hydrocortisone Apofri

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not store above 25 ° C.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after “EXP”. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
