What is Nipaxon Used For?

Nipaxon suppresses the cough reflex by affecting the cough center in the brain without affecting the brain’s function in general.

What You Need To Know Before Nipaxon 50 mg Uses

Do Not Use Noskapin

  • If you are allergic to medicine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings And Cautions

Talk to your doctor before using Noskapin if you have a prolonged or chronic cough, such as asthma, or a cough with a lot of mucus.

If no improvement occurs, consult a physician.

Other Medicines And Noskapin

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

If you are being treated with warfarin (a blood thinner), you should consult your doctor before starting treatment with this medicine.

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding And Fertility

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Nipaxon Cough Syrup.

No adverse effects on the fetus have been demonstrated.

Noskapin passes into breast milk but is unlikely to affect breastfed infants. However, consult a physician if you take Nipaxon 50 mg English more than temporarily during breastfeeding.

Driving And Using Machines

Nipaxon Cough Syrup can cause dizziness and drowsiness. If you experience these symptoms, do not drive or use machines that require sharp attention.

You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention. One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and/or side effects.

Noskapin Contains Ethanol, Methyl and Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate, Sodium

Nipaxon 50 mg English contains small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per 20 ml dose.

It also contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate ( preservative E 218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate ( preservative E 216) which may cause an allergic reaction (possibly delayed).

 The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per 20 ml dose, ie is essential ‘sodium-free’.

Nipaxon 50 mg Uses

Always use this medicine as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse has told you. If you are unsure, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

The recommended dose is:

Adults and children over 14 years :20 ml 3 times daily.
Children:10-14 years:10 ml 3 times daily.
 4-10 years:5 ml 3-4 times daily.
 2-4 years:2.5 ml 3-4 times daily.

Do not give Niplaxon to children under 2 years of age.

Another dose, according to the doctor’s prescription.

Noskapin should be taken between meals.

If You Use More Noskapin Than You Should 

If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g. If a child has ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor or hospital for risk assessment and advice.

If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

Noskapin Side Effects

This medicine can cause side effects like all medicines, although not everybody gets them.

Stop taking Nipaxon 50 mg Cough Syrup and contact your doctor immediately if you get any of the following symptoms:

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling of the face
  • Lips
  • Mouth
  • Tongue, or other body parts
  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing

 It may be a sign of a severe allergic reaction such as angioedema (may affect up to 1 in 100 people) or anaphylactic reaction (may affect up to 1 in 1000 users).

Other side effects that may occur:

Common ( may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

  • Headache
  • Somnolence.

Uncommon ( may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

Rare may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

  • Respiratory distress
  • Snuva
  • Hallucinations
  • Inflammation of the outer membrane of the eye.

Has been reported (occurs in an unknown number of users):

  • Feeling of discomfort in the chest.

In some people, noscapine can cause intense abdominal / chest pain ½-4 hours after ingestion. The pain goes away on its own after 1-3 hours.

How To Store

Do not store above 25 ° C. Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

Content Declaration

  • The active substance is Noskapin 2.5 mg/ml
  • Other excipients are glycerol (85%, sweetener), ethanol (96%) (alcohol content corresponding to 0.3% (v / v)), Poloxamer, Kelgum (xanthan gum E 415 and fruit kernel flour E 410), disodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, fennel parole ( preservative E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate ( preservative E 216) and purified water.

Noskapin oral suspension does not contain regular sugar (sucrose).
