-
two or more people with common

complementary skills who are

A
team
is
a formal work group in which
there is a high level of interaction
among group members
who
work
intensely together to achieve a common
goal. A group whose members
work intensely with
each
other
to achieve a specific, common goal or
objective is known as Team. All
teams are groups but
not
all
groups are teams.
Teams
often are difficult to
form.
It
takes time for members to
learn how to work
together.
A
group/team is effective
when
it satisfies three criteria:

output: the product
of the group's work must
meet or exceed standards of
quality

quantity

Member
satisfaction: membership in the
group must provide people
with short-term

Virtual Team is known as a
Geographically Dispersed Team
(GDT) is a group of individuals
who
work
across time, space, and
organizational boundaries with links
strengthened by webs of
communication
technology. They have complementary
skills and are committed to a common
purpose,
have
interdependent performance goals, and share an
approach to work for which
they hold themselves
mutually
accountable. Geographically dispersed
teams allow organizations to
hire and retain the
best
people
regardless of location. A virtual
team does not always
mean Tele-workers. Tele-workers
are
defined
as individuals who work from
home. Many virtual teams in
today's organizations consist
of
employees
both working at home and
small groups in the office but in
different geographic locations
or
during
different shits/time.
