Pharmaceutical group

Ebastin Apofri is an antihistamine, which counteracts the effect of histamine. Histamine is a substance in the body’s tissues that are triggered when you are exposed to allergenic substances and which, among other things, triggers runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing as well as eye problems such as red, watery and itchy eyes. Insensitive individuals, histamine can also cause troublesome itching and skin rashes after mosquito bites.

What is Ebastin Apofri used for?

Ebastin Apofri is used for temporary allergic symptoms such as red, watery, and itchy eyes as well as runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing. The allergic problems can be caused by, among other things, pollen, fur animals, mites, or dust. Ebastin Apofri can also be used by people who are sensitive to mosquito bites, during temporary stays in mosquito-rich areas.

Ebastin contained in Ebastin Apofri may also be approved for the treatment of other conditions not mentioned in this leaflet. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional if you have any further questions, and always follow their instructions.

3. HOW TO USE EBASTIN APOFRI

Dosage instructions

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years is 1 orodispersible tablet of 10 mg melted on the tongue once a day in connection with breakfast for a maximum of 14 days. For more severe allergic symptoms, the dose can be increased to 2 orodispersible tablets of 10 mg daily. Ebastin Apofri should not be given to children under 12 years of age.

Patients with severe hepatic impairment should not take more than 1 orodispersible tablet of 10 mg per day.

If you want to use Ebastin Apofri for longer than 14 days, you should contact a doctor to rule out a more serious cause of the problem.

The effect of Ebastin Apofri comes within 1 hour and lasts for 24 hours after taking the dose. Fur animal allergy sufferers should take Ebastin Apofri 1 hour before visiting a home with fur animals. In case of itching caused by mosquito bites, you get the best effect if Ebastin Apofri is taken before you have been bitten by a mosquito. People who are extra sensitive to mosquito bites have the greatest effect. The effect on itching lasts less than 2 hours and therefore does not affect the latter phase of itching after mosquito bites.

Administration

User manual:

Ebastin Apofri has a peelable foil. The symbol with an arrow, on the edge of the blister, shows the appropriate place to separate the foil from the underlying foil containing orodispersible tablets.

– Carefully pull off the back of an orodispersible tablet, as shown by the arrow

– Take the orodispersible tablet out of its pocket

The orodispersible tablet is then placed on the tongue, where it is immediately dissolved. Water or other liquid does not need to be used. The orodispersible tablets should be carefully removed from the blister with dry hands so that it is not crushed. The tablet should then be taken as soon as possible.
