1. What Acetylcysteine ​​Teva is and what it is used for

Acetylcysteine ​​Teva contains the active substance acetylcysteine, which dissolves tough mucus so that it becomes thinner and thus easier to cough up.

Acetylcysteine ​​Teva is used for prolonged tracheal problems with viscous mucus ( chronic bronchitis ).

Warnings and cautions

Acetylcysteine ​​Teva contains sodium and aspartame (E 951)

Acetylcysteine ​​Teva contains 191 mg sodium (the main ingredient in table salt/table salt) per effervescent tablet. This corresponds to 10% of the maximum recommended daily intake of sodium for adults. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if you need to take 2 effervescent tablets or more effervescent tablets daily for a long period of time, especially if you have been prescribed a low-salt (sodium-poor) diet.

Acetylcysteine ​​Teva also contains 20 mg of aspartame per effervescent tablet. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It can be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare, inherited disease that leads to the accumulation of high levels of phenylalanine in your body.

3. How to use Acetylcysteine ​​Teva

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

The usual dose for adults is 1 effervescent tablet dissolved in a ½-1 glass of water 2-3 times a day.

Use for children and adolescents

There is no relevant use of Acetylcysteine ​​Teva for children.

If you forget to use Acetylcysteine ​​Teva

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Stop using Acetylcysteine ​​Teva if any of the following occur and contact a doctor immediately :

  • difficulty swallowing
  • rash
  • breathing difficulties.

Other side effects that may occur:

Common (may affect more than 1 user in 100):

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea.

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Abdominal pain
  • Cramps in the trachea.

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat ( angioedema ).

5. How to store Acetylcysteine ​​Teva

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not store above 25 ° C.

Close the package tightly. Moisture sensitive.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.
