1. What Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova is and what it is used for

Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova dissolves tough mucus so that it becomes thinner and thus easier to cough up.

Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova is used for prolonged tracheal problems with viscous mucus ( chronic bronchitis ).

Acetylcysteine ​​contained in Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova may also be approved for the treatment of other conditions not mentioned in this leaflet. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional if you have any further questions, and always follow their instructions.

What you need to know before you take Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova

Do not take Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova

  • if you are allergic to acetylcysteine ​​or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and cautions

  • if you have asthma or have previously had convulsions in the trachea.

Driving and using machines

Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova contains sodium and sucrose

This medicine contains 195.43 mg sodium (the main ingredient in table salt/table salt) per effervescent tablet. This corresponds to 10% of the maximum recommended daily intake of sodium for adults. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if your need for 2 or more effervescent tablets remains on a daily basis for a long period, especially if you have been prescribed a low-salt (sodium-poor) diet.

If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

How to take Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

The recommended dose is 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.

Effervescent tablet one dissolves in a ½-1 glass of water.

The symptoms you might experience if you take more doses of acetylcysteine Alternova include hypotension, rash, cramps in the bronchial muscle, nausea, and vomiting.

If you forget to take Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Stop taking Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova and contact a doctor immediately if you get any of the following symptoms ( angioedema ):

  • swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
  • difficulty swallowing
  • hives and difficulty breathing.

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): Nausea, diarrhea.

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): Abdominal pain, bronchospasm.

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): Skin rash, hives, itching, and allergic swelling ( angioedema ).

5. How to store Acetylcysteine ​​Alternova

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Close the package tightly. Moisture sensitive.

Do not store above 30 ° C.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

  • The other ingredients are sodium bicarbonate, anhydrous citric acid, anhydrous sodium carbonate, anhydrous sodium sulfate, sweetener (sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium), povidone, macrogol, simethicone- emulsion (dimension, methylcellulose, sorbic acid, purified water), lemon flavoring ( ascorbic acid, citral, lemon oil, maltodextrin, saccharose ).
