Viread<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If your child is allergic<\/strong>&nbsp;to tenofovir, tenofovir disoproxil, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in been treated\u00a0with other\u00a0HIV\u00a0medicines that no longer have the full effect due to the development of resistance or have caused\u00a0side effects.<\/li><li><strong>Check your child&#8217;s age and weight<\/strong>\u00a0to see if Viread 123 mg tablets are suitable, see\u00a0<em>Children and adolescents.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving your child Viread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Be careful not to infect other people.\u00a0<\/strong>Your child can still transmit\u00a0HIV\u00a0when taking this medicine, although the risk is reduced with effective\u00a0antiviral\u00a0treatment.\u00a0Viread does not reduce the risk of transmitting HBV to others through sexual contact or blood infection.\u00a0Discuss with your child&#8217;s doctor the necessary measures to avoid infecting others.<\/li><li><strong>Talk to your child&#8217;s doctor or pharmacist if your child has a history of kidney disease or if tests have shown that your child has kidney problems<\/strong>.\u00a0Viread should not be given to children with kidney problems.\u00a0Viread can affect your child&#8217;s kidneys damage your child&#8217;s kidneys (see\u00a0Other medicines and Viread\u00a0).\u00a0If this cannot be avoided, your child&#8217;s doctor will check your child&#8217;s kidney function once a week.<\/li><li>Skeletal problems.\u00a0Some adult patients with\u00a0HIV\u00a0receiving\u00a0combination\u00a0antiretroviral\u00a0therapy may develop a bone disease called\u00a0osteonecrosis\u00a0(bone tissue dies due to loss of blood supply to the bone).\u00a0Some of the many risk factors for developing the disease are long-term\u00a0combination\u00a0antiretroviral\u00a0therapy, use of\u00a0corticosteroids, alcohol consumption, severe impairment of the immune system, and higher body mass index.\u00a0Signs of\u00a0osteonecrosis\u00a0are joint stiffness and pain (especially in the hip, knee, and shoulders) and difficulty moving.\u00a0Tell your child&#8217;s doctor if your child experiences any of these symptoms. Bone problems (manifesting as persistent or worsening bone pain and sometimes leading to\u00a0fractures\u00a0) may also occur due to damage to renal tubule cells (see section 4,\u00a0Possible\u00a0side effects\u00a0).\u00a0Tell your child&#8217;s doctor if your child has bone pain or\u00a0a fracture.<br>Tenofovir disoproxil can also cause loss of bone mass.\u00a0The most pronounced loss of bone mass was seen in\u00a0clinical trials\u00a0when patients were treated with tenofovir disoproxil in combination with a boosted\u00a0protease inhibitor.<br>Overall, the effects of tenofovir disoproxil on long-term bone health and future fracture risk in adults and children are uncertain. Tell your child&#8217;s doctor if your child has osteoporosis.\u00a0Patients with osteoporosis are at higher risk of\u00a0fracture.<\/li><li>Inform your child&#8217;s doctor if your child already has or has had liver disease, including\u00a0hepatitis.\u00a0Patients with liver disease, including\u00a0chronic\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B or C, who are treated with antiretroviral agents are at increased risk of severe and potentially fatal liver complications.\u00a0If your child has\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B, your child&#8217;s doctor will carefully choose the best treatment for your child.\u00a0If your child has or has had liver disease or\u00a0chronic\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B, your child&#8217;s doctor may take blood tests to check liver function.<\/li><li>Be observant\u00a0about\u00a0infection.\u00a0If your child has\u00a0advanced-stage\u00a0HIV\u00a0infection (\u00a0AIDS\u00a0) and has an\u00a0infection, your child may develop symptoms of\u00a0infection\u00a0and\u00a0inflammation\u00a0or worsening of symptoms of an existing\u00a0infection when\u00a0treatment\u00a0with Viread is started.\u00a0These symptoms may indicate that your child&#8217;s body&#8217;s improved immune system is fighting\u00a0infection.\u00a0Watch for signs of\u00a0inflammation\u00a0or\u00a0infection\u00a0during the first period after your child starts taking Viread.\u00a0If you detect signs of\u00a0inflammation or\u00a0infection,\u00a0you should inform your child&#8217;s doctor immediately.<br>In addition to opportunistic\u00a0infections, autoimmune disorders (conditions where the immune system attacks healthy body tissue) can also occur after your child starts taking medicines to treat\u00a0their\u00a0HIV\u00a0infection.\u00a0Autoimmune disorders may occur several months after starting treatment.\u00a0If you notice that your child has any symptoms of\u00a0infection\u00a0or other symptoms such as muscle weakness, a weakness that starts in the hands or feet and moves to the trunk, palpitations, tremors, or hyperactivity, inform your child&#8217;s doctor immediately to get the necessary treatment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Children and young people<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Viread 123 mg tablets are&nbsp;<strong>only suitable<\/strong>&nbsp;for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>HIV\u00a0-1-infected children aged 6 to less than 12 years\u00a0<\/strong><strong>who weigh from 17 kg to less than 22 kg\u00a0<\/strong><strong>and who have already been treated<\/strong>\u00a0with other HIV drugs that are no longer fully effective due to the development of resistance or have caused\u00a0side\u00a0effects<\/li><li><strong>HBV-infected children aged 6 to less than 12 years weighing from 17 kg to less than 22 kg<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Viread 123 mg tablets are&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;suitable for the following groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Not for<\/strong>\u00a0children weighing under 17 kg or 22 kg and over.\u00a0Contact your child&#8217;s doctor if your child is outside the approved weight<strong>.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Not for<\/strong>\u00a0children and young people under 6 years or 12 years and over.<\/li><li><strong>Not for HBV (\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B\u00a0virus\u00a0)-infected<\/strong>\u00a0children and adolescents of all ages.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For\u00a0dosage, see section 3,\u00a0<em>How your child takes Viread.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other medicines and Viread<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell your child&#8217;s doctor or pharmacist if your child is taking, has recently taken, or might take any other medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Do not stop taking\u00a0HIV\u00a0medicines previously prescribed by the doctor<\/strong>\u00a0when the child starts taking Viread if the child has both HBV and\u00a0HIV.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Do not give Viread<\/strong>\u00a0if your child is already taking other medicines containing tenofovir disoproxil or tenofovir alafenamide.\u00a0Do not give Viread together with medicines containing adefovir dipivoxil (a medicine used to treat\u00a0chronic\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B).<\/li><li><strong>You must tell<\/strong> your child&#8217;s doctor if your child is taking other medicines that may harm your child&#8217;s kidneys. Such drugs are:<ul><li>aminoglycosides, pentamidine, or vancomycin (against a bacterial\u00a0infection\u00a0),<\/li><li>amphotericin B (for fungal infection),<\/li><li>foscarnet, ganciclovir, or cidofovir (for viral infection),<\/li><li>interleukin-2\u00a0(for the treatment of cancer),<\/li><li>adefovir dipivoxil (for HBV),<\/li><li>tacrolimus (for\u00a0suppressing\u00a0the immune system),<\/li><li>non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (\u00a0NSAID\u00a0preparations, to relieve bone or muscle pain).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Other medicines containing didanosine (for\u00a0HIV\u00a0infection\u00a0): If your child takes\u00a0Viread\u00a0together with other antiviral medicines containing didanosine, the blood levels of didanosine may increase and the CD4 cell count may decrease.\u00a0Rare cases of pancreatitis and lactic acidosis (excess\u00a0lactic acid\u00a0in the blood), in some cases with a fatal outcome, have been reported during concomitant treatment with medicines containing tenofovir disoproxil and didanosine.\u00a0Your child&#8217;s doctor will carefully consider whether your child can be treated with a combination of tenofovir and didanosine.<\/li><li>It is also important that you tell your doctor\u00a0if your child is taking ledipasvir\/sofosbuvir, sofosbuvir\/velpatasvir, or sofosbuvir\/velpatasvir\/voxilaprevir to treat\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0C\u00a0infection.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Viread with food and drink<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Give Viread food<\/strong>\u00a0(eg a meal or a snack).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pregnancy and breastfeeding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child is pregnant or breastfeeding or thinks she may be pregnant, consult a doctor or pharmacist before your child uses this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If your child has taken Viread<\/strong>\u00a0during pregnancy, the doctor may ask your child to have regular blood tests and other diagnostic tests to check the baby&#8217;s development.\u00a0For children with a\u00a0mother\u00a0who took drugs such as Viread (NRTIs) during pregnancy, the benefit of protection against the\u00a0virus\u00a0is greater than the risk of\u00a0side effects.<\/li><li>If your baby has HBV and her baby has received treatment to prevent transmission of\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B at birth, your baby may be able to breastfeed, but talk to your baby&#8217;s doctor first for more information.<\/li><li>If your child has\u00a0HIV, she should not breastfeed her infant to avoid dizziness.&nbsp;Your child must&nbsp;<strong>not drive or cycle<\/strong>&nbsp;and must not use tools or machines if he\/she feels dizzy when taking Viread.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Viread contains lactose<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Talk to your child&#8217;s doctor before giving Viread<\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>If your child has an intolerance to certain sugars, you should contact the child&#8217;s doctor before taking this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Viread contains&nbsp;sodium<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This medicine contains less than 1 kg:<\/strong>1 tablet a day with food (e.g. a meal or a snack).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child&#8217;s doctor will monitor your child&#8217;s weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Your child must always take the&nbsp;dose&nbsp;prescribed by the doctor<\/strong>&nbsp;to ensure that the medicine is effective and to reduce the development of&nbsp;resistance&nbsp;to the treatment.&nbsp;Do not change the&nbsp;dose&nbsp;unless your child&#8217;s doctor tells you to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\u00a0HIV, your child&#8217;s doctor will prescribe Viread together with other antiretroviral of tablets so you can easily describe what your child has taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If your child forgets to take Viread<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child mustn&#8217;t miss a\u00a0dose\u00a0of Viread.\u00a0If your child misses a\u00a0dose, count when he\/she should have taken it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If it has been less than 12 hours<\/strong>\u00a0since the time it is usually taken, your child should take it as soon as possible, and then take the next\u00a0dose\u00a0at its regular time.<\/li><li><strong>If it has been more than 12 hours<\/strong>\u00a0since your child should have taken it, do not take the missed\u00a0dose.\u00a0Wait and give the next\u00a0dose\u00a0at its regular time.\u00a0Do not give a effects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During\u00a0HIV\u00a0treatment, weight gain and increased levels of\u00a0lipids\u00a0and\u00a0glucose\u00a0in the blood may occur.\u00a0This is partly related to restored health and lifestyle, but in the case of blood lipids, there can sometimes be a connection with HIV\u00a0drugs.\u00a0Your child&#8217;s doctor will do tests to find such changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like breathing<\/li><li>drowsiness<\/li><li>nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain<br><strong>\u2192<\/strong>\u00a0If you think your child may have\u00a0<strong>lactic acidosis, contact your child&#8217;s bone hardness (which causes&nbsp;<strong>bone pain<\/strong>&nbsp;and sometimes leads to&nbsp;fractures&nbsp;), which can occur due to damage to kidney tubule cells.<\/li><li><strong>fatty
