of&nbsp;hormones&nbsp;called estrogens.<\/li><li>It is identical to the estradiol produced in the woman&#8217;s ovaries.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Vagidonna&nbsp;belongs to a group&nbsp;of drugs called hormone replacement therapy (&nbsp;HRT&nbsp;)&nbsp;and&nbsp;is for&nbsp;vaginal&nbsp;use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is used to<\/strong>&nbsp;relieve discomfort in the genital area associated with menopause, such as dryness or irritation.&nbsp;The medical term for this is \u201cvaginal atrophy\u201d.&nbsp;It is caused by declining estrogen levels in the body, which occurs after the last regular menstrual period (&nbsp;menopause&nbsp;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vagidonna works by<\/strong>\u00a0replacing the\u00a0estrogen\u00a0that is normally produced in the woman&#8217;s ovaries.\u00a0Vagidonna is inserted into the vagina so that the\u00a0hormone\u00a0is released where it is needed.\u00a0This can relieve discomfort in the\u00a0vagina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience in the of\u00a0HRT\u00a0entails risks that must be taken into account when deciding to start treatment or continue an ongoing treatment.\u00a0Consult a doctor before starting a treatment or discuss whether you should continue treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience is limited for the treatment of women whose menstruation has stopped prematurely (when the ovaries stopped working or because of using Vagidonna and consult a doctor immediately.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warnings and precautions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Talk to your doctor if you or have had any of the following problems before starting treatment as these may return or get worse during treatment with Vagidonna.\u00a0Should this occur, you should have more frequent check-ups with a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>asthma<\/li><li>epilepsy<\/li><li>diabetes<\/li><li>gallstone disease<\/li><li>Hypertension<\/li><li>migraine\u00a0or severe headache<\/li><li>liver disease, e.g.\u00a0benign liver tumor<\/li><li>endometrial tissue that grows outside the uterus (\u00a0endometriosis\u00a0) or you have previously had heavy growth of the endometrial lining (\u00a0endometrial hyperplasia\u00a0)<\/li><li>a disease affecting the eardrum and hearing (otosclerosis)<\/li><li>the disease of the immune system that attacks many organs in the body (systemic lupus with Vagidonna<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If any of the following occurs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>you get a migraine-like headache for the first time<\/li><li>skin or whites of the eyes turn yellow (jaundice);\u00a0it could be a symptom of liver disease<\/li><li>your\u00a0blood pressure\u00a0rises sharply (symptoms may include headache, tiredness, or dizziness)<\/li><li>swelling note:<\/strong>&nbsp;Vagidonna is not a contraceptive.&nbsp;If it has been less than 12 months since your last period, or if you are under 50, you may still need to use contraception to avoid pregnancy.&nbsp;Consult your doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HRT&nbsp;and cancer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strong thickening of the lining of the uterus (&nbsp;endometrial hyperplasia&nbsp;) and cancer of the lining of the uterus (endometrial cancer)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long-term use of\u00a0estrogen-only\u00a0HRT\u00a0tablets\u00a0can increase the risk of developing cancer in the lining of the uterus (endometrium).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is unclear whether there is a similar risk with Vagidonna when used for repeated treatment or long-term treatment (more than a year).\u00a0However, Vagidonna has been shown to have very low\u00a0absorption\u00a0into the blood, so the addition of a progestin\u00a0is not necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you experience\u00a0a breakthrough\u00a0or\u00a0spotting, it is usually nothing to worry about, but you should contact your doctor.\u00a0It could be a sign that your endometrium has thickened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The following described risks refer to treatment with hormone replacement preparations (\u00a0HRT\u00a0) that circulate in the blood.\u00a0However, Vagidonna is for local treatment in the\u00a0vagina,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0absorption\u00a0into the blood is very small.\u00a0The conditions<em> mentioned below are less likely to worsen or recur during treatment with Vagidonna, but you should see your doctor if you are concerned.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Breast cancer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data suggest that the use of Vagidonna does not increase the risk of breast cancer in women who have not had breast cancer before.\u00a0It is unknown whether Vagidonna can be used safely in women who have had breast cancer in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Check your breasts regularly.&nbsp;Contact a doctor if you notice changes such as:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>indentations or pits<\/li><li>nipple changes<\/li><li>lumps you can see or feel.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also recommended that you participate in mammography screening when you are called to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ovarian cancer (&nbsp;ovarian cancer&nbsp;)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ovarian cancer is rare &#8211; much rarer than breast cancer.\u00a0The use of\u00a0estrogen-only\u00a0HRT\u00a0has been associated with a slightly increased risk of ovarian cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Comparison<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk of ovarian cancer varies with age.\u00a0For example, the diagnosis of ovarian cancer will be given to around 2 women out of 2,000 aged 50 to 54 who do not take\u00a0HRT\u00a0for 5 years.\u00a0For women who have taken\u00a0HRT\u00a0for 5 years, it is about 3 cases per 2000 users (ie about 1 extra case).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How&nbsp;HRT&nbsp;affects the heart and blood circulation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blood clots in a vein (&nbsp;thrombosis&nbsp;)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk of&nbsp;<strong>blood clots in the veins<\/strong>&nbsp;is 1.3-3 times higher for women who take&nbsp;HRT&nbsp;than for those who do not, especially during the first year of treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blood clots can be serious.&nbsp;If a blood clot ends up in the lungs, it can cause chest pain, shortness of breath, collapse or even lead to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are more likely to get a blood clot in a vein if you are older and if any of the following apply to you.&nbsp;Tell your doctor if any of these situations apply to you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul occur:&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Comparison<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For women in their 50s, who do not take\u00a0HRT, over a 5-year period an average of 4\u20137 in 1,000 are expected to have a blood clot in a vein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For women in their 50s taking&nbsp;estrogen&nbsp;alone for more than 5 years, 5\u20138 in 1,000 users are expected to develop a blood clot in a vein (ie 1 extra case).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Heart disease (heart attack)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For women taking\u00a0estrogen\u00a0alone, there is no increased risk of developing heart disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>Stroke&nbsp;_<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk of&nbsp;stroke&nbsp;is about 1.5 times higher for those who take&nbsp;HRT&nbsp;compared to those who do not.&nbsp;The risk of&nbsp;stroke&nbsp;is age dependent, therefore the number of cases of&nbsp;stroke&nbsp;due to the use of&nbsp;HRT increases&nbsp;with increasing age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Comparison<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For women in their 50s who do not take\u00a0HRT, for over 5 years an average of 8 in 1,000 are expected to have a\u00a0stroke.\u00a0For women in their 50s taking\u00a0HRT\u00a0for more than 5 years, 11 out of 1,000 users are expected to have a\u00a0stroke\u00a0(ie 3 extra cases).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HRT&nbsp;use&nbsp;does not prevent memory loss.&nbsp;The risk of memory loss may be slightly higher in women who start using&nbsp;HRT&nbsp;after the age of 65.&nbsp;Consult your doctor.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other medicines and Vagidonna<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including non-prescription medicines and herbal remedies.<br>Since Vagidonna is used for local treatment in the\u00a0vagina, however, it is unlikely that Vagidonna will affect the effect of other drugs.\u00a0Vagidonna can affect the effectiveness of other treatments given vaginally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pregnancy and breastfeeding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vagidonna is intended for women whose menstruation has stopped.&nbsp;Do not use Vagidonna if you are pregnant.&nbsp;If you become pregnant, stop using Vagidonna and
