is used for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tybost contains the active substance cobicistat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tybost is used to treat&nbsp;infection&nbsp;by human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (&nbsp;HIV&nbsp;-1 ), the&nbsp;virus&nbsp;that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (&nbsp;AIDS&nbsp;).&nbsp;It is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older who are infected with&nbsp;HIV&nbsp;and who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>weigh at least 35 kg (when Tybost is given together with atazanavir 300 mg) or<\/li><li>weighing at least 40 kg (when Tybost is given together with darunavir 800 mg).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tybost acts as a&nbsp;<strong>booster<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<em>atazanavir&nbsp;<\/em><strong>or darunavir&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>(<\/strong>&nbsp;both&nbsp;of which are&nbsp;protease inhibitors&nbsp;) to enhance their effect (see section 3 of this leaflet).<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tybost does not treat your&nbsp;HIV&nbsp;directly but works by boosting the levels of atazanavir and darunavir<\/strong>&nbsp;in the blood.&nbsp;It does this by slowing the breakdown of atazanavir and darunavir, which then remain longer in the body.<br><a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you need to know before using Tybost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do not use Tybost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>if you are allergic to cobicistat<\/strong>&nbsp;or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6 of this leaflet).<\/li><li><strong>If you are taking medicines containing any of the following:<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>alfuzosin<\/strong>\u00a0used to treat enlarged prostate gland<\/li><li>amiodarone,\u00a0and quinidine,\u00a0used to correct irregular heartbeats<\/li><li>dabigatran\u00a0used to prevent and treat blood clots<\/li><li>carbamazepine, phenobarbital,\u00a0and phenytoin\u00a0used to prevent seizures<\/li><li>rifampicin\u00a0used\u00a0to prevent and treat\u00a0tuberculosis\u00a0and other\u00a0infections<\/li><li>dihydroergotamine, ergometrine,\u00a0and ergotamine\u00a0are used to treat migraine headaches<\/li><li>St. John&#8217;s wort\u00a0(\u00a0Hypericum perforatum\u00a0), a natural remedy, is used for depression and mild anxiety<\/li><li>lovastatin,\u00a0simvastatin,\u00a0is used to lower the cholesterol level in the blood<\/li><li>pimozide, and lurasidone,\u00a0used to treat abnormal thoughts or feelings<\/li><li>sildenafil\u00a0is used to treat\u00a0pulmonary\u00a0arterial\u00a0hypertension\u00a0&#8211; a lung anxiety)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2192If any of these apply to you, do not take Tybost and inform your doctor immediately.<\/strong><a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warnings and precautions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your treatment with Tybost must be followed up by a doctor at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You can still transmit\u00a0HIV<\/strong>\u00a0while taking this medicine, although the risk is reduced with effective\u00a0antiretroviral\u00a0therapy.\u00a0Talk to your doctor about the precautions needed to avoid infecting other people.\u00a0This medicine does\u00a0not treat your\u00a0HIV\u00a0infection\u00a0directly.\u00a0You can still develop\u00a0an infection\u00a0or other diseases associated\u00a0with\u00a0HIV\u00a0infection.\u00a0You must have have or have had kidney disease or if tests have shown that you have problems with your kidneys.\u00a0Your doctor will carefully consider whether you should be treated with explained in section 3 of this leaflet.&nbsp;The use of Tybost in children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 35 kg has not been studied.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other medicines and Tybost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken,<\/strong> or might take any other medicines.\u00a0Tybost can affect or be affected by other substances.\u00a0This can lead to the amount of Tybost or other medicines in the blood being affected.\u00a0The medicines may then not work properly or any\u00a0side effects\u00a0may worsen.\u00a0In some cases, the doctor may need to change the\u00a0dose\u00a0or check the amount of medicine in the blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Certain medicines should never be taken with Tybost.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are under the heading &#8220;Do not take Tybost &#8211; If you take medicines that contain any of the the doctor<\/strong>&nbsp;if you are taking any of these&nbsp;HIV&nbsp;medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other types of medicines:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>ketoconazole\u00a0, itraconazole, voriconazole, posaconazole<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0fluconazole<\/strong>\u00a0, medicines used to treat fungal infections<\/li><li><strong>clarithromycin<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>rifabutin<\/strong>, medicines used to treat bacterial infections such as\u00a0tuberculosis<\/li><li>dasatinib, nilotinib, vinblastine,\u00a0and\u00a0vincristine, medicines used to treat cancer<\/li><li>corticosteroids\u00a0include\u00a0betamethasone, budesonide,\u00a0fluticasone, mometasone, prednisone, and triamcinolone.\u00a0These medicines are used to treat\u00a0allergies,\u00a0asthma, inflammatory bowel diseases, inflammatory conditions in the skin, eyes, joints, and muscles, and other inflammatory conditions.\u00a0These drugs are usually taken orally, inhaled, injected, or applied to the skin or eye.\u00a0If there are no alternatives, the drug should be used only after medical judgment and any of these medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2192Tell the doctor if you are taking any of these or other medicines.&nbsp;<\/strong>You should not stop treatment without talking to your doctor.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pregnancy and breastfeeding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant,<\/strong>\u00a0or are planning to have a baby.\u00a0Pregnant women should not take Tybost with atazanavir or darunavir.\u00a0The amount of this medicine in the blood may decrease during pregnancy, which may cause it to stop working properly.<\/li><li>Do not breastfeed during treatment with Tybost.\u00a0It is unknown whether the active substance in this medicine can pass into human breast milk.\u00a0If you are an\u00a0HIV\u00a0-infected woman, you should not breastfeed your infant to avoid transmission of\u00a0HIV\u00a0to the baby through breast milk.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Driving ability and use of machinery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some patients reported dizziness when Tybost was taken at the same time as atazanavir or darunavir.\u00a0If you are affected while taking Tybost, you should not drive a car or use any tools or machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tybost contains para-orange aluminum lacquer (E110)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tell the doctor if you are allergic to para-orange aluminum lacquer (E110).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tybost contains para orange aluminum lacquer which can cause allergic reactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ty cheese contains&nbsp;sodium<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg)&nbsp;of sodium&nbsp;per tablet, i.e. it is almost &#8216;sodium-free&#8217;.<br><a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to use Tybost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Always take this medicine as directed by your doctor.&nbsp;Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The recommended\u00a0dose\u00a0for adults:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>One tablet a day by mouth with food<\/strong>.\u00a0You must not chew, crush or split the tablet.<\/li><li><strong>Tybost must be taken together with atazanavir (300 mg) or darunavir (800 a&nbsp;dose&nbsp;and notice it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>within 12 hours<\/strong>\u00a0of the time, you usually take Tybost, you must take the tablet as soon as possible.\u00a0The tablet must always be taken with food.\u00a0Then take the next\u00a0dose\u00a0as usual in combination with atazanavir or darunavir.<\/li><li>12 hours or more\u00a0after the time you know which of the unwanted effects are caused by Tybost, by other medicines you are taking, or by the\u00a0HIV\u00a0disease.\u00a0The following\u00a0side effects\u00a0may occur when Tybost is taken the expiry date which is stated on the can and carton after {EXP}.&nbsp;The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No special storage instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medicines must not be thrown into the drain or among the household waste.\u00a0Ask the pharmacist how to dispose of medicines that are no longer used.\u00a0These measures
