Twinrix Vuxen is a vaccine that is used for adults and young people aged 16 and over and that protects against two different diseases:\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0A and\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B. The vaccine works by causing the body to produce its protection (\u00a0antibodies\u00a0) against these diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself against these diseases.\u00a0The vaccine does not contain any components that can cause\u00a0infection.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before receiving Twinrix Adult if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fainting may occur (mainly in young people) after, or even before, any needle injection.\u00a0Therefore, tell the doctor or nurse if you have fainted during a previous\u00a0injection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In obese patients, a poor response to the vaccine has been seen, possibly without achieving protection against\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0A. A poor response to the vaccine, possibly without achieving protection against\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B, has also been seen in older people, men rather than women, smokers, obese, long-term sick, or people with a certain type of drug treatment.\u00a0Your doctor may advise you to have a blood test after you have completed the vaccination program to check whether you have achieved a sufficient response.\u00a0If not, your doctor will let you know if you need an additional\u00a0dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before receiving this vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is not known whether Twinrix Adult passes into breast milk. However, the vaccine is not expected to cause any problems for children who are breastfed.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Tell your doctor if you have previously had\u00a0an allergic reaction\u00a0to\u00a0neomycin\u00a0( an\u00a0antibiotic\u00a0).<\/p>\n\n\n\n This vaccine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of\u00a0sodium\u00a0per\u00a0dose, i.e. it is almost “sodium-free”. You will receive a total of three\u00a0injections\u00a0over 6 months.\u00a0Each\u00a0injection\u00a0is given at a separate visit.\u00a0The first\u00a0dose\u00a0will be given as agreed.\u00a0The other two\u00a0doses\u00a0will be given one month and six months after the first\u00a0dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Twinrix Adult can also be given as a total of 3\u00a0doses\u00a0within 1 month.\u00a0This schedule should only be given to adults who need quick protection (eg international travelers).\u00a0The first\u00a0dose\u00a0is given as agreed.\u00a0The remaining 2\u00a0doses\u00a0are given 7 days and 21 days after the first\u00a0dose.\u00a0A fourth\u00a0dose\u00a0is recommended at 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If an additional dose or a top-up dose is needed, the doctor will let you know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As described in Section 2, a poor response to the vaccine, possibly without achieving protection against\u00a0hepatitis\u00a0B, is more common in older people, men rather than women, smokers, the obese, the chronically ill, or people on certain types of drug therapy.\u00a0Your doctor may advise you to have a blood test after you have completed the vaccination program to check whether you have achieved a sufficient response.\u00a0If not, your doctor will let you know if you need an additional\u00a0dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you miss an appointment for vaccination, you must talk to the doctor and get a new appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Make sure you complete the vaccination program of three\u00a0injections.\u00a0Otherwise, you will not have complete protection against the diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The doctor will give you Twinrix Adult as an injection into the upper arm muscle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The vaccine should not be given on the skin or\u00a0intramuscularly\u00a0in the buttock, as the protection may be reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The vaccine must never be given into a vein.<\/p>\n\n\n\nTwinrix Adult contains neomycin and sodium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
