group of medicines called anticonvulsants or\u00a0antiepileptics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Trileptal is used for<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medicines such as Trileptal are the standard treatment for\u00a0epilepsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Epilepsy\u00a0is a disorder in brain function that leads to recurrent seizures.\u00a0The seizures occur due to a temporary error in the electrical activity of the brain.\u00a0Normally, brain cells coordinate body movements by sending signals through the nerves to the muscles in an organized and orderly manner.\u00a0In\u00a0epilepsy, the brain cells send out too directed by your doctor or pharmacist, even if they differ from the information provided in this leaflet.&nbsp;Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How much to take<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dosage&nbsp;for adults<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\u00a0<strong>usual starting dose<\/strong>\u00a0of Trileptal for adults (including elderly patients) is 600 mg daily.<\/li><li>Take one 300 mg tablet twice daily or two 150 mg tablets twice daily.<\/li><li>Your doctor may gradually increase this\u00a0dosage\u00a0to find the best\u00a0dose\u00a0for you.\u00a0The maintenance dose is usually between 600 and 2,400 mg per day.<\/li><li>Dosage\u00a0one is the same if you take other\u00a0antiepileptic drugs.<\/li><li>If you
