is used for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tivicay contains the active substance dolutegravir.\u00a0Dolutegravir belongs to a group of antiretroviral drugs called\u00a0<em>integrase inhibitors<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tivicay is used to treat\u00a0<strong>HIV\u00a0<\/strong><strong>infection\u00a0(\u00a0HIV\u00a0=\u00a0human immunodeficiency virus)<\/strong>\u00a0in adults, adolescents, and children from 4 weeks of age weighing at least 3 kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tivicay does not cure\u00a0HIV\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0infection\u00a0but it reduces the amount of\u00a0virus\u00a0in the transmission via infected blood (e.g. if you share the same injection needles).&nbsp;You can still transmit&nbsp;HIV&nbsp;when taking this medicine, although the risk is reduced with effective&nbsp;antiviral&nbsp;treatment.&nbsp;Discuss with your doctor the necessary measures to avoid infecting others.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Children<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not give this medicine to children under 4 weeks of age, with a body weight of less than 3 kg, or with\u00a0HIV\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0infection\u00a0that is resistant to other medicines of the same type
