Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher contains the active substance oxycodone hydrochloride.\u00a0Oxycodone hydrochloride is a powerful painkiller that belongs to the group of\u00a0opioidsb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher is used to treat\u00a0severe pain<\/strong>, which requires treatment with analgesic\u00a0opioids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone hydrochloride contained in Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher may also be approved for the treatment of other conditions not mentioned in this leaflet.\u00a0Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional if you have any further questions, and always follow their instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you are\u00a0allergic<\/strong>\u00a0to oxycodone, soy, peanuts, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have breathing problems, such as slower or weaker breathing than expected\u00a0(\u00a0respiratory depression\u00a0)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have too much carbon dioxide in your blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have a severe chronic lung disease<\/strong> with narrow airways (COPD = chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have a specific heart condition<\/strong> called cor pulmonale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have\u00a0asthma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have a type of bowel obstruction called paralytic\u00a0ileus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have acute severe abdominal pain<\/strong> or delayed emptying of the stomach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Oxycodone Depot Lannacher<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you are\u00a0elderly or debilitated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if your\u00a0lung, liver, or kidney<\/strong>\u00a0function is severely impaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have a specific disease of the thyroid gland<\/strong> ( myxedema ) or if your thyroid gland does not produce enough hormone (underactive thyroid gland ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have a poor adrenal function (ie the adrenal glands do not work properly), for example,\u00a0Addison’s disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if your prostate<\/strong> is abnormally enlarged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you are\u00a0an alcoholic<\/strong>\u00a0or undergoing alcoholism treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you are, or have been, addicted to strong painkillers<\/strong> ( opioids ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have\u00a0inflammation\u00a0of the\u00a0pancreas<\/strong>\u00a0(\u00a0pancreatitis\u00a0) or if you have problems with the\u00a0gallbladder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have\u00a0difficulty urinating or it hurts to urinate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have\u00a0high brain pressure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have low blood pressure<\/strong> or feel dizzy when you get up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you have epilepsy<\/strong> or a tendency to seizures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 if you are also taking a type of medicine called an MAOI <\/strong>(commonly used to treat depression<\/strong> or Parkinson’s disease<\/strong> ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dependence and tolerance<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n When Oxycodone Depot Lannacher is used for long-term treatment, tolerance<\/strong> to the drug may develop. This means that you may need a higher dose to get the desired pain relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher may cause\u00a0addiction<\/strong>.\u00a0If treatment is stopped too suddenly, withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, tremors, dizziness, diarrhea, sweating or chills, convulsions, rapid\u00a0heartbeat,\u00a0and high\u00a0blood pressure\u00a0may occur.\u00a0If you no longer need treatment, your doctor will gradually reduce your daily\u00a0dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If this medicine is used as intended for patients with chronic pain, the risk of physical and mental dependence is small. Your doctor weighs the potential risks against the expected benefit. Ask your doctor if you have any questions about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The risk of side effects is increased if you take Oxycodone Depot Lannacher at the same time as medicines that affect brain function. For example, you may feel very sleepy or your breathing problems may worsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Drugs that affect brain function include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 other strong painkillers ( opioids )<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 sleeping pills and sedatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 antidepressants<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 medicines used to treat\u00a0allergies, motion sickness or nausea (\u00a0antihistamines\u00a0or antiemetics)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 other drugs that affect the nervous system (phenothiazines, neuroleptics )<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 medicines used to treat\u00a0Parkinson’s disease\u00a0(so-called\u00a0MAO inhibitors, see also section \u201cWarnings and precautions\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The risk of\u00a0side effects\u00a0is increased if you take antidepressant drugs (for example,\u00a0citalopram, duloxetine, escitalopram,\u00a0fluoxetine, fluvoxamine,\u00a0paroxetine,\u00a0sertraline\u00a0,\u00a0venlafaxine\u00a0).\u00a0These drugs can affect or be affected by oxycodone, and you may experience symptoms such as involuntary, rhythmic muscle contractions, including in the muscles that control eye movements, sudden movements, heavy sweating, tremors, excessive reflexive movements, increased muscle tension, body temperature above 38 \u00b0 C.\u00a0Contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Concomitant use of Oxycodone Depot Lannacher and sedatives or medicines for insomnia such as benzodiazepines or similar medicines increases the risk of drowsiness, difficulty breathing ( respiratory depression ), coma and may be life-threatening. Due to this, concomitant use should only be considered when other treatment options are not possible. If your doctor prescribes Oxycodone Depot Lannacher at the same time as sedatives, the dose and treatment time should be limited by your doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tell your doctor if you are taking any sedatives and follow your doctor’s close<\/p>\n\n\n\n dose recommendations. It may be helpful to inform friends or relatives about paying attention to the signs and symptoms described above. Contact a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additional interactions may occur with<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 cimetidine (medicine for stomach acid). It can prolong the effects of Oxycodone Depot Lannacher in your body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 anticoagulants (eg warfarin ). Oxycodone Depot Lannacher may affect their effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 certain\u00a0antibiotics, antifungals, and medicines containing\u00a0St. John’s wort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Taking alcohol while taking Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher may cause drowsiness or increase the risk of serious\u00a0side effects\u00a0such as\u00a0shallow breathing with a risk of respiratory arrest and unconsciousness.\u00a0Taking alcohol is not recommended while you are taking Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone Depot Lannacher should not be used in patients who have abused or are abusing alcohol or drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Grapefruit juice may increase the levels of Oxycodone Depot Lannacher in the blood. Ask your doctor if you drink grapefruit juice regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pregnancy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You should not take Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher during pregnancy.\u00a0There are insufficient data on the use of oxycodone in pregnant women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prolonged\u00a0use<\/strong>\u00a0of oxycodone\u00a0during pregnancy<\/strong>\u00a0may cause\u00a0withdrawal symptoms in newborns<\/strong>.\u00a0Infants born to mothers who have received oxycodone during the last 3-4 weeks before delivery may have severe breathing difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone Depot Lannacher should only be used during pregnancy when the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the newborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Breast-feeding<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone can pass into breast milk and may cause breathing difficulties in the infant.\u00a0Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher should therefore not be used during breastfeeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone Depot Lannacher may impair the ability to drive and use machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone Depot Lannacher can impair your alertness and<\/strong> ability to react to such an extent that you can no longer drive or use tools or machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ask your doctor if you can drive or use machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You are responsible for assessing whether you are fit to drive a motor vehicle or perform work that requires sharpened attention.\u00a0One of the factors that can affect your ability in these respects is the use of drugs due to their effects and\/or\u00a0side effects.\u00a0Descriptions of these effects and\u00a0side effects\u00a0can be found in other sections.\u00a0Read all the information in this leaflet for guidance.\u00a0If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to peanuts or soy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dosage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Your doctor will adjust your\u00a0dose<\/strong>\u00a0according to the intensity of the pain and your sensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For\u00a0doses\u00a0that are not achievable\/practicable with this strength, other strengths of this medicine are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Unless your doctor prescribes otherwise, the recommended dose is:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 for adults and adolescents (over 12 years of age):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The usual starting dose is 10 mg oxycodone hydrochloride every 12 hours (morning and evening).<\/p>\n\n\n\n For patients who have been\u00a0treated with other strong painkillers<\/strong>\u00a0(\u00a0opioids\u00a0)\u00a0before<\/strong>, your doctor may\u00a0prescribe\u00a0a higher starting dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your doctor will then decide how much to take each day and how to divide your total daily dose into morning and evening doses. Your doctor will also inform you of any dose adjustments that may be necessary during treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Patients with cancer pain<\/strong> usually need a daily dose of 80 to 120 mg oxycodone hydrochloride daily. In individual cases, the doctor may increase the dose by up to 400 mg daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the treatment of\u00a0non-cancer-related pain<\/strong>, 40 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride is usually sufficient, but a higher\u00a0dose\u00a0may be needed in some cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you experience pain between doses of Oxycodone Depot Lannacher, you may need to take another fast-acting painkiller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone Depot Lannacher is not suitable for this. <\/strong>Talk to your doctor if you have this problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your doctor will regularly check your treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Special populations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Elderly (65 years and older):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Elderly patients with normal liver and\/or kidney function may take the same\u00a0dose\u00a0as is indicated for adults above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022\u00a0Patients with kidney and\/or liver disease or with low body weight:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Your doctor may prescribe a lower starting dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Children <\/strong><\/em>(under 12 years of age):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The safety and efficacy of Oxycodone Depot Lannacher in children below 12 years of age have not been established. Oxycodone Depot Lannacher is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Method of administration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Oxycodone Depot Lannacher is for oral use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Take the prolonged-release tablets whole with a sufficient amount of liquid<\/strong> (eg \u00bd glass of water). You can take the tablets with or without food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do not break, chew, divide or crush the tablets. <\/strong>This can cause them to release all their contents into the body at once, leading to the risk of overdose and possibly even death (see also “If you have taken too much Oxycodone Depot Lannacher” below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Contact a doctor immediately if you have taken more tablets than prescribed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Symptoms of overdose are<\/strong><\/em>:\u00a0decreased pupil size, breathing problems, feeling of weakness in the muscles (low\u00a0muscle tone,\u00a0hypotension\u00a0), and drop in blood pressure.\u00a0Drowsiness or fainting due to failing circulatory system (circulatory collapse), impaired thinking and movement, unconsciousness (\u00a0coma\u00a0), decreased heart rate and fluid retention in the lungs (with symptoms such as difficulty breathing, especially in a supine position, and coughing with the production of foamy mucus which may be pink or blood-stained, heavy sweating, anxiety, and pallor) may occur in severe cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Using\u00a0large amounts of<\/strong>\u00a0Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher\u00a0can lead to death<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you have ingested too much medicine or if e.g.\u00a0If a child has ingested the medicine by mistake, contact a doctor or hospital for risk assessment and advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you take a smaller\u00a0dose\u00a0of Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher than you should, or if you miss a\u00a0dose, you will\u00a0probably not get enough pain relief.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n If you forget to take a\u00a0dose, take the missed\u00a0dose\u00a0as soon as you remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note that you should take the tablets at 12-hour intervals (twice daily).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do not stop treatment without talking to your doctor first, as withdrawal symptoms<\/strong> may occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you no longer need treatment with Oxycodone Depot Lannacher, your doctor will tell you how to gradually reduce dose one<\/strong> to prevent the onset of withdrawal symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Like all medicines, this medicine can cause\u00a0side effects, although not everybody gets them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Contact a doctor immediately if any of the following symptoms occur:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022\u00a0very slow or weak breathing<\/strong>\u00a0(\u00a0respiratory depression\u00a0).\u00a0This is the most serious risk with medicines such as Oxycodone\u00a0Depot\u00a0Lannacher (opioids\u00a0)\u00a0and can even be life-threatening after high\u00a0doses\u00a0of this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n OTHER SIDE EFFECTS AR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Very common<\/strong> (may affect more than 1 user in 10)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 drowsiness, dizziness, headache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 constipation, nausea, vomiting. The expiration date is the last day of the specified month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do not store above 25 \u00b0 C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required.
