what it is used for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevanac contains the active substance nepafenac and belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (&nbsp;NSAIDs&nbsp;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevanac is used in adults for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>to prevent and relieve eye pain and&nbsp;inflammation&nbsp;after cataract surgery in the eye<\/li><li>to reduce the risk of macular edema (swelling in the posterior parts of the eye) after cataract surgery in the eye in diabetic patients.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you need to know before you use Nevanac<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do not use Nevanac<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>if you are allergic to nepafenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).<\/li><li>if you are allergic to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (&nbsp;NSAIDs&nbsp;).<\/li><li>if you doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before using Nevanac if you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>easily get bruises or suffer from bleeding problems or have previously had these problems<\/li><li>suffer from another eye disease (eg an&nbsp;eye infection&nbsp;) or if you are taking other medicines in the eye (especially&nbsp;steroids&nbsp;for eye use)<\/li><li>have&nbsp;diabetes<\/li><li>have rheumatism<\/li><li>have undergone repeated eye surgeries within a short time<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Avoid sunlight when treated with taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevanac can affect or be affected by other medicines you use, including other\u00a0eye drops\u00a0for the treatment of\u00a0glaucoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that reduce the blood&#8217;s ability to coagulate (\u00a0warfarin\u00a0) or other\u00a0NSAIDs.\u00a0They may increase the risk of bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pregnancy and breastfeeding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before using Nevanac.\u00a0Women who may become pregnant are advised to use effective contraception during treatment with Nevanac.\u00a0The use of Nevanac during pregnancy is not recommended.\u00a0Do this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Driving and using machines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear.&nbsp;You may find that your vision becomes blurred just after using Nevanac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nevanac contains benzalkonium chloride<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This medicine contains 0.25 mg of benzalkonium chloride per 5 ml corresponding to 0.05 mg\/ml.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The preservative in Nevanac, benzalkonium chloride, can be absorbed by soft contact lenses and can discolor the contact lenses.\u00a0Remove contact lenses before using the medicine and wait at least 15 minutes before re-inserting the contact lenses.\u00a0Benzalkonium chloride can be irritating to the eyes, especially if you have dry eyes or problems with the cornea (the clear membrane at the front of the eye).\u00a0If you experience irritation, tingling, or pain in the eye after using the medicine, consult a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to use Nevanac<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.&nbsp;Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use Nevanac only as\u00a0eye drops.\u00a0Do not swallow or inject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The recommended&nbsp;dose&nbsp;is<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One drop in the affected eye or eyes three times daily &#8211; morning, mid-day, and evening.\u00a0Use the eye drops at the same time each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When to use Nevanac and for how long<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start one day before eye surgery.&nbsp;Continue during the day of surgery.&nbsp;Then use Nevanac for as long as your doctor prescribes it.&nbsp;This can be up to 3 weeks (to prevent and relieve pain and&nbsp;inflammation&nbsp;in the eye) or 60 days (to prevent macular edema) after surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructions for use<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wash your src=\"https:\/\/www.fass.se\/imaging\/resources\/ec21f201-4a84-4cbd-bf46-e5130a109c1a\" alt=\"figure\" title=\"figure\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Shake the bottle carefully.<\/li><li>Unscrew the hat.<\/li><li>If the safety collar is loose when the cover has been removed, it must be removed before using the product.<\/li><li>Hold the bottle upside down between your thumb and the other fingers.<\/li><li>Tilt your head back.<\/li><li>Pull down the lower eyelid with a clean finger, so that a pocket is formed between the eyelid and the eye.&nbsp;The drop should end up in the pocket (Fig. 1).<\/li><li>Move the tip of the bottle close to the eye.&nbsp;Use a mirror if it makes it easier.<\/li><li>Do not touch the eye or eyelid, surrounding areas or other surfaces with the bottle tip.&nbsp;This can contaminate the drops.<\/li><li>Gently press the bottom of the bottle with your index finger to release one drop of Nevanac at a time.<\/li><li>Do not of Nevanac and the other drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you use more Nevanac than you should<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Rinse everything with lukewarm water.\u00a0Do not drip in more drops class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>complicated eye surgery<\/li><li>recurrent eye surgery for a short period of time<\/li><li>certain diseases of the surface of the eye such as&nbsp;inflammation&nbsp;or dry eyes<\/li><li>certain common diseases such as&nbsp;diabetes&nbsp;or rheumatism<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact a doctor immediately if your eyes become redder or more painful when you use the drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It may be due to a superficial eye inflammation with or without loss of or damage to cells or inflammation\u00a0of the colored part of the eye
