Lamotrigine Bluefish is and what it is used for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lamotrigine Bluefish belongs to a group of medicines called\u00a0antiepileptics.\u00a0It is used to treat two conditions &#8211;\u00a0epilepsy\u00a0and\u00a0bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Lamotrigine Bluefish treats&nbsp;epilepsy<\/em>&nbsp;by blocking the signals in the brain that trigger epileptic seizures (attacks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For adults and children 13 years of age and older,&nbsp;<em>Lamotrigine Bluefish<\/em>&nbsp;can be used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat&nbsp;epilepsy&nbsp;.&nbsp;<em>Lamotrigine Bluefish<\/em>&nbsp;can also be used with other medicines to treat the seizures that occur in a condition called&nbsp;Lennox-Gastaut&nbsp;syndrome.<\/li><li>For children between the ages of 2 and 12,&nbsp;<em>Lamotrigine Bluefish<\/em>&nbsp;can be used with other medicines to treat these conditions.&nbsp;It can be used as the sole treatment to treat a type of&nbsp;epilepsy&nbsp;called typical absences.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Lamotrigine Bluefish also treats&nbsp;bipolar you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tell<\/strong>&nbsp;your&nbsp;<strong>doctor<\/strong>&nbsp;who may decide that your&nbsp;dose&nbsp;needs to be reduced or that Lamotrigine Bluefish is not suitable for you.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important information about possible life-threatening reactions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A small number of people taking Lamotrigine Bluefish have an\u00a0allergic reaction\u00a0or a skin reaction that can be life-threatening and develop into more serious problems if left untreated.\u00a0These may include\u00a0Stevens-Johnson to treat various conditions, including\u00a0epilepsy\u00a0and\u00a0bipolar disorder.\u00a0People with\u00a0bipolar disorder\u00a0can sometimes have thoughts of harming themselves or committing develop new symptoms while taking Lamotrigine Bluefish:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Contact a doctor as soon as possible or see your nearest hospital for help.It may be helpful to tell a family member, caregiver, or close friend that you may be depressed or have noticeable changes in your mood, and ask them to read this leaflet.&nbsp;You can ask them to tell you if they are worried about your depression or other changes in your behavior.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A small number of people treated with antiepileptic&nbsp;drugs&nbsp;such as lamotrigine have also had thoughts of harming themselves or committing suicide.&nbsp;If you ever get these thoughts, contact your doctor immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are taking Lamotrigine Bluefish for&nbsp;epilepsy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seizures in certain types of&nbsp;epilepsy&nbsp;can sometimes get worse or occur more often while you are taking Lamotrigine Bluefish.&nbsp;Some patients may experience severe seizures that can cause serious health problems.&nbsp;If your seizures occur more often or if you experience a severe seizure while taking Lamotrigine Bluefish:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Contact a doctor as soon as possible.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lamotrigine Bluefish should not be given to people under 18 years of age for the treatment of\u00a0a bipolar disorder.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drugs for the treatment of depression and other mental health problems increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior gabapentin, levetiracetam, pregabalin, <a href=\"https:\/\/zeepedia.com\/medical\/medicines\/topiramate-1a-pharma\/\">topiramate<\/a> or zonisamide used to treat&nbsp;epilepsy<\/li><li>lithium, problems<\/li><li>phenytoin&nbsp;, primidone or phenobarbital used to treat&nbsp;epilepsy<\/li><li>risperidone&nbsp;used to treat mental health problems<\/li><li>rifampicin which is an&nbsp;antibiotic<\/li><li>medicines used to treat&nbsp;HIV&nbsp;(a combination of lopinavir and ritonavir or atazanavir and ritonavir)<\/li><li>hormonal contraceptives such as&nbsp;birth control (eg&nbsp;birth control pills&nbsp;) can affect the way Lamotrigine Bluefish works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your doctor may recommend that you use a special type of hormonal contraceptive or another method of contraception such as a condom,\u00a0diaphragm,\u00a0or\u00a0IUD.\u00a0If you are using a hormonal contraceptive such as a\u00a0contraceptive pill, your doctor may take a blood test to check your doctor or pharmacist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lamotrigine Bluefish contains lactose and sodium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lamotrigine Bluefish contains&nbsp;lactose&nbsp;.&nbsp;If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg)\u00a0sodium\u00a0per tablet, ie essentially &#8216;sodium-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to take Lamotrigine Bluefish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The tablets should be swallowed with water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.&nbsp;Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How much Lamotrigine Bluefish to take<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It may take a while to find the&nbsp;dose&nbsp;of Lamotrigine Bluefish that is best for you.&nbsp;The dose&nbsp;you take depends on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>your age<\/li><li>whether or not you are taking Lamotrigine Bluefish with other medicines<\/li><li>if you have any problems with your kidneys or liver.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your doctor will start you on a low&nbsp;dose&nbsp;and increase the&nbsp;dose&nbsp;gradually over a few weeks until you reach a&nbsp;dose&nbsp;that works for you (called
